Our client is a global investment firm, providing investment advisory services, financial planning, and proprietary research to institutional investors, private clients, and financial intermediaries.
They are currently seeking an Operations Executive to head Client Data and Performance Reporting function to provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for managing and transforming the Client data and Client reporting teams, - depending on the candidate's qualifications, the role can be on a Senior or Managing Director levels. These teams are responsible for collection of valuation and transaction information of client investments, comprising of both marketable and alternative assets, and producing Performance Reports. The team comprises of roughly 100 Employees and 40 offshore contractors.
We are seeking a proven leader that can successfully structure, organize, and transform the operational processes of these teams while at the same work closely with the Global Investment Teams to build an Industry-standard client data and portfolio performance calculations function that ensures compliance with global regulatory standards. The position will report to the Chief Operating Officer of the firm.
Primary Responsibilities
Subject Matter Expert: Serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and working groups, clients, and external industry peer groups; interpret and apply CFA Institute GIPS guidance to ensure compliance in firm-wide operations, composite construction, and marketing materials.
Team Leadership :
• Lead a centralized Client Data team and oversee the onboarding and maintenance of monthly Client Investment Information received from Investment Managers and Custodians
• Lead a centralized Performance Reporting Team delivering client reporting across all major asset classes.
Strategic Vision & Operations Evolution :
• Develop strategic vision for the practices ensuring alignment with firmwide performance goals
• Stay current with industry trends in evolving Fintech firms and look for opportunities to streamline and evolve the operations model across the teams
• Collaborate with IT to develop and integrate technology solutions to enhance data and reporting functions through a build/buy strategy
• Work closely with internal departments including Global Investing Team to evolve the Operations model as data and reporting needs of the firm.
Operational Oversight:
• Ensure portfolio performance calculation integrity through use and oversight of proprietary performance reporting capabilities
• Design and implement policies, procedures and reporting to effectively identify and resolve operational issues, mitigate business risk, and establish best practices
• Provide support to composite related issues, including construction, performance calculations, and dispersion analysis
Vendor Management: Build a strong relationship with vendor partners to deliver the best possible outcome for the firm in a scalable and cost-effective manner
Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience in the financial services industry preferably within the investment management industry, including deep experience in the calculation and execution of portfolio performance and/or client reporting and data analytics
• Proven experience in leadership roles overseeing large-scale global operations teams in the financial services industry
• Deep expertise in investment management performance standards (e.g., GIPS, SEC, FMPS, etc.)
• Proven ability to work with IT team to build scalable and strategic solutions for the team
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to identify and address performance reporting challenges, develop strategic solutions, and drive results
• Demonstrated experience in building teams and forming trusted and productive relationships across the organization
• An understanding of investment strategies, products, and asset classes and how investment returns are calculated, measured, and assessed
• Experience in understanding private investment performance reporting preferred
• Demonstrated experience guiding organizational change
• Demonstrated success in delivering high quality business outcomes on time/budget for an Operations team within a financial services firm
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, negotiating, influencing, facilitation, organizational, prioritization, decision making, and conflict resolution skills
• Experience managing within a global context
• BS/BA in a Business, Finance, or related field. Masters degree preferred
• CFA designation preferred
Salary Range $180-240K/base
