Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a/an Head of Engineering located in Henrico VA.

Reporting to the Senior Director - Global Engineering the Head of Engineering will be responsible for working with Engineering Leaders, Manufacturing Operations Management, Product Managers and other Engineering and Operational functional leaders, to lead several Design & Engineering teams involved in the design, validation and implementation of innovative and cost-effective product solutions of varying scope in order to meet customer requirements from development of conceptual prototypes and architecture through development into full-scale production..

What a typical day looks like:

  • Direct and control the activities of broad functional area through several senior Design & Engineering managers involved in activities such as designing, developing, modifying and evaluating integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and systems
  • Partner with other leaders to establish objectives and action plans
  • Ensure the development of Design & Engineering solutions for diversified industry segment covering a wide range of products and volume mixes
  • Ensure budget, schedules and performance indicators meet corporate guidelines
  • Provide technical and strategic guidance to subordinate directors to ensure achievement of goals and objectives
  • Develop and continuously improve people, methods, systems, processes and metrics in a complex and rapidly changing environment to improve customer satisfaction
  • Organize and lead reviews to ensure projects are delivered on time, as per cost targets and within quality specifications
  • Partner with Operations leaders to ensure Engineering & Design activities are well integrated with manufacturing operations including the use of Design for Manufacturability principles.
  • Implement appropriate HR Strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

The experience we're looking to add to our team,

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training plus a minimum of 8 years of management experience. A Master's or MBA degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk design tools and PDM and PLM.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical designs LV switchgear
