Title: Head of Product Engineering
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Location: Herndon, VA (Hybrid)
Position Summary
Everfox is seeking an accomplished Head of Product Engineering responsible for leading Everfox's global engineering organization, responsible for developing, integrating, and delivering Everfox's portfolio of mission-critical software, hardware, and integrated defense technology solutions across the company's cybersecurity portfolio.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this executive transforms product strategy into world-class engineering execution by driving engineering excellence, delivery predictability, software quality, operational scalability, and engineering talent development. Equally important, this executive will be expected to increase execution discipline, simplify processes, and operate with great transparency throughout the development lifecycle.
This role partners closely with executive leaders reporting to the COO to ensure enterprise-wide processes operate as one integrated data driven system. Together, these leaders produce best in class defense technology at speed, scale, and with disciplined rigor required for the missions our customers protect.
This executive will modernize engineering practices, strengthen development operations, improve execution rigor, and build an engineering organization capable of supporting Everfox's continued growth and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities:

This role will:
  • Create a culture of execution and operational excellence.
  • Build trust through transparency, accountability, and disciplined decision-making.
  • Lead organizational transformation while maintaining employee engagement.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across Product, Technology, Sales, Professional Services, Customer Success, and corporate functions.
  • Make data-driven decisions balancing customer priorities, technical quality, and business outcomes.

Engineering Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead all global software engineering organizations responsible for designing, building, testing, integrating, and sustaining Everfox products.
  • Translate company, product, and technology strategies into a clear engineering strategy, operating model, organizational structure, and execution roadmap.
  • Enhance an engineering culture centered on mission accountability, innovation, technical excellence, speed, collaboration, and disciplined execution.
  • Lead a strong engineering leadership team and create scalable organizational structures capable of supporting continued organic growth, new products, and future acquisitions.
  • Establish engineering as a high-performing execution organization focused on quality, speed, predictability, and accountability.
  • Drive consistent on-time delivery against product roadmaps and customer commitments.
  • Build scalable engineering processes that improve productivity while maintaining exceptional software quality.
  • Establish engineering metrics, operating rhythms, and governance that provide executive visibility into execution.

Engineering Operations:
  • Own engineering planning, execution, resource allocation, and capacity management.
  • Drive engineering operational excellence through standardized development methodologies and continuous improvement.
  • Implement best practices across Agile development, CI/CD, automated testing, and release management.
  • Improve engineering velocity while reducing technical debt and operational risk.
  • Lead engineering budget planning and workforce strategy in partnership with the COO.

Partnership with Product & Technology:
Partner closely with the Chief Product Officer to:
  • Translate product roadmaps into executable engineering plans.
  • Ensure engineering capacity aligns with business priorities.
  • Improve predictability of roadmap delivery.
  • Balance innovation with customer commitments.

Partner closely with the Chief Technology Officer to:
  • Operationalize technology strategy and architectural direction.
  • Scale emerging technologies into production-ready capabilities.
  • Ensure engineering standards align with long-term technology strategy.
  • Accelerate adoption of AI-enabled engineering tools, automation, and secure software development practices.

Engineering Excellence:
  • Establish a culture centered on quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and execution excellence.
  • Champion modern software engineering practices across the organization.
  • Improve engineering productivity through automation, tooling, AI-assisted development, and streamlined workflows.
  • Reduce defect rates while improving release frequency and product reliability.
  • Create scalable engineering standards across architecture implementation, coding practices, testing, and security.
  • Establish succession plans and develop the next generation of technical and engineering leaders.

Customer Delivery & Compliance:
  • Maintain an understanding of the missions, operating environments, threats, and technical challenges facing Everfox customers.
  • Ensure engineering decisions reflect the realities of operating within government, defense, intelligence, and critical-infrastructure environments.
  • Champion solutions that are resilient, secure, scalable, interoperable, maintainable, and capable of operating within demanding or contested environments.
  • Engage with key government and international customers as senior technical leaders when required.
  • Partner with customers and internal teams to translate operational needs into scalable product capabilities rather than one-off engineering solutions wherever possible.
  • Maintain appropriate awareness of global defense markets, allied-nation requirements, sovereignty considerations, export environments, and evolving cybersecurity expectations.

Quality, Security & Engineering Rigor:
  • Embed security, quality, reliability, safety, compliance, and resilience into engineering processes from the beginning of product development.
  • Establish strong technical governance while maintaining the speed and flexibility expected of a modern defense technology organization.
  • Strengthen engineering architecture and technical review mechanisms.
  • Ensure appropriate configuration management, documentation, traceability, test automation, verification, and validation.
  • Proactively identify and address technical debt and systemic engineering risks.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, quality, legal, compliance, and government-security organizations to meet applicable regulatory, customer, contractual, and security requirements.

  • Improve the integration of hardware, software, systems, and product engineering.
  • Reduce unnecessary process complexity and engineering cycle time.
  • Improve product quality, reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Strengthen accountability and transparency across the product-development lifecycle.
  • Increase reuse of technology, architectures, platforms, components, and engineering capabilities.
  • Improve engineering capacity planning and return on engineering investment.
  • Build stronger partnerships among Product, Engineering, Technology, Operations, Programs, and Go-to-Market.
  • Develop a strong engineering leadership bench and technical talent pipeline.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 20+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including executive leadership of large software engineering organizations.
  • Proven experience leading engineering organizations within enterprise software, cybersecurity, defense technology, or highly regulated industries.

  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to connect engineering investment to company and customer outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead across organizational boundaries and influence senior technical and business executives.
