Job description

Director of Implementation
Billee Technologies Inc. | Dallas-Fort Worth, TX | Full-Time
Overview
When a new client signs with Billee, the real work begins. The Director of Implementation is the person who turns a signed contract into a live, running system, doing it in a way that earns trust and sets clients up to succeed long-term. Without this role, onboardings stall, clients feel unsupported, and the value of our platform doesn't land the way it should.
Day to day, this means owning the full lifecycle of each client deployment: running requirements workshops, configuring billing software to match complex rate structures and regulatory requirements, managing data migrations from legacy systems, and coordinating across internal teams to keep projects on track. You'll typically be managing several concurrent implementations at once, each at a different stage, each with its own quirks.
This role is a fit for someone who genuinely enjoys the intersection of technical problem-solving and client relationships. You'll regularly be the person in the room, or on the call, who understands both what the system can do and what the client actually needs. That gap-bridging work is where this role gets interesting, and sometimes hard.
Who We Are
Billee Technologies Inc. is a Dallas-based SaaS startup revolutionizing utility billing for multifamily apartment communities. Our intuitive, cloud-based platform streamlines operations, eliminates inefficiencies, and increases NOI for property owners and operators.
At Billee, we are more than just a technology company. We are a team of innovators and problem solvers. Led by seasoned product and technology practitioners, we challenge traditional providers by offering smarter, more efficient solutions for this overlooked pocket in multifamily proptech.
Our culture is the foundation of our success. We believe in empowering and developing our people, ensuring they thrive both professionally and personally. Our core values define how we work and what we stand for:
  • Win Together. We believe in collaboration and collective success. When one of us wins, we all win.
  • Lead with Integrity. We hold ourselves accountable, operate with transparency, and always do what we say we'll do.
  • Relentless Determination. We tackle challenges head-on, with persistence and decisive action.
  • Bold Voices. We encourage open dialogue and foster a culture where every voice matters.
  • Stay Curious. We are lifelong learners, always seeking new ways to innovate, improve, and grow.
Core Responsibilities
Implementation Leadership Own end-to-end deployment projects from kickoff through go-live. You'll build the project plan, set the timeline, coordinate internal and client stakeholders, and keep things moving when they get complicated. Clients should feel confident and informed at every stage.
Technical Configuration Configure our billing platform to match each client's rate structures, tariffs, and regulatory requirements. This includes setting up customer information systems, meter data management, and billing calculation engines, as well as integrating with existing client infrastructure such as AMI, GIS, and ERP systems. The work requires both technical precision and the judgment to know when something won't hold up in production.
Data Migration Design and execute migration strategies for clients transitioning from legacy systems. You'll be responsible for ensuring data integrity throughout the process, from initial mapping through final validation, and documenting decisions along the way.
Client Engagement Serve as the primary technical contact throughout each implementation. That means running requirements-gathering sessions, leading UAT coordination, and translating complex system concepts for stakeholders who aren't technical.
Quality Assurance Develop and execute testing protocols that validate billing accuracy, rate calculations, and regulatory compliance before anything goes live. You're the last line of defense before a client is processing real transactions.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience with utility billing software implementations in multifamily real estate
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with data migration tools
  • Proficiency in system integration methodologies and API configuration
  • Working knowledge of utility rate structures, tariffs, billing methodologies, and relevant regulatory frameworks (PUC, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent technical projects independently
  • Strong client-facing communication skills; you can present to an executive and debug with an IT admin in the same day
  • Detail-oriented with high accountability for data accuracy and delivery timelines
Ideal Candidate
  • Comfortable with complexity. You don't need perfect information to move forward. You know how to break ambiguous requirements into clear configuration decisions, and you're not rattled when a client's setup doesn't fit neatly into the standard playbook.
  • Client-first communicator. You've built real trust with clients in past roles. You know how to keep someone both informed and confident. Non-technical stakeholders leave your training sessions feeling capable.
  • Organized under pressure. You've managed overlapping go-live timelines and kept your head straight. You have a system for tracking what's in flight, what's at risk, and what needs to escalate, and you use it consistently.
  • Technically fluent. You're not a developer, but you're close enough to the systems that you can diagnose integration issues, spot a migration error before it becomes a go-live problem, and have a credible conversation with an engineer about what's actually wrong.
  • Curious about the domain. You've gone deeper than the software. You understand why utility billing works the way it does, including the regulatory context, the rate structures, and the quirks of multifamily operations, and that knowledge makes your implementations better.
  • Ownership mentality. When something goes sideways on a project, you're already working the problem before anyone asks. You treat every implementation as if your name is on it, because it is.
Tools You'll Use
  • Billee Platform: Core billing and configuration environment where most implementation work happens
  • SQL / Data Migration Tools: Used for extracting, transforming, and validating client data
  • AMI / GIS / ERP Integration Layers: Varies by client; you'll configure connections between Billee and existing client systems
  • Project Management Tools: For tracking milestones, dependencies, and cross-team coordination

Prior experience with these specific tools matters less than the ability to learn quickly. Deep familiarity with utility billing systems and data migration approaches is what we care about most.
Where You'll Sit
This role is part of our Billing Operations team, reporting to [Title of Manager]. Your primary stakeholders are Client Services, Product, and Engineering. You'll work closely with Client Services on onboarding handoffs and escalations, with Product to surface configuration gaps and client feedback, and with Engineering when implementations surface integration or platform issues.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $130,000 to $160,000
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and flexible work arrangements
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Opportunity for earned equity
