This is a senior leadership role defining what "editorial excellence for AI visibility" means - ensuring content is on-brand, compliant, and optimized for both editorial placement and AI citation.
You report to the Head of PR and work across two sister companies, multiple clients, and multiple content systems simultaneously.
What You'll Do
  • Own the full editorial function across Zen Media + Optimum7

  • Build editorial playbooks for new programs before launch
  • Manage full writing team (writers, contractors, freelancers)
  • Act as final editorial gate before client delivery or publication
  • Own editorial placement strategy and relationships with high-authority publications (DA 60+)
  • Enforce compliance and editorial standards across all content
  • Define and maintain writing standards for SEO, GEO (AI citability), AP Style, structure, and tone
  • Partner with Head of PR and account teams on strategy and execution
  • Train writers on AI-first editorial craft
  • Write key high-impact pieces (bylines, launches, strategic thought leadership)
  • Own editorial performance metrics (quality, speed, citation impact, approval cycles)

What You Bring
  • 7-10+ years editorial experience (Managing Editor / Editorial Director / Head of Content preferred)
  • Proven experience managing editorial teams (writers + freelancers)
  • Strong portfolio of published editorial work (including ghostwriting) at DA 60+ outlets
  • AP Style mastery
  • Experience with B2B industries (software, healthcare tech, manufacturing, services, eCommerce)
  • Strong understanding of SEO and AI citability (GEO / LLM extraction principles)
  • High-level editorial judgment (tone, compliance, accuracy, structure)
  • Ability to run multiple editorial calendars and deadlines at scale
  • Experience improving and scaling writers and editorial systems
  • Calm, structured communication style and strong operational discipline

Preferred Experience
  • Existing relationships with major trade or business editors (Forbes, Fast Company, WSJ, etc.)
  • Experience building editorial teams or style guides from scratch
  • Experience with AI visibility / Answer Share™ / GEO frameworks
  • Wire services (PR Newswire, Business Wire, GlobeNewswire)
  • Knowledge of structured data / schema / citation mechanics
  • Experience launching editorial programs or content systems
