Description

Fabrication Tech: There are several different operations that make up the fabrication department, and everyone in the department may not have the ability to perform all the operations. These operations include and are not limited to:

  • Basic duties such as clean up; maintenance; understanding, executing, and reporting work orders; maintaining work area safety and always operating in a safe manner in all areas of this department.
  • Manual milling
  • Use: Digital Read Out (DRO), edge finder, coaxial dial indicator, vise, toe clamps, cutting tools
  • Rotating head, squaring up the head
  • Maintain machine, cutting tools and specialty tools.
  • Feeds and speeds, climb cutting, conventional cutting
  • Manual lathe (turning)
  • Use: Digital Read Out (DRO), tail stock, cutting tools
  • Maintain machine, cutting tools and specialty tools.
  • Feeds and speeds, threading
  • Dial in parts on 4 jaw chuck
  • Saws
  • Automatic band saw, miter band saw, vertical band saw, friction chop saw, cold saw
  • Tubing bending
  • Manual bending

  • Strong knowledge of metalworking techniques, including cutting, welding, soldering, and brazing.
  • Experience with operating various fabrication machinery and tools.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and procedures in a fabrication environment.
  • Knowledge of CNC processes

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
