Work Day:                    7 hours a day (includes hour unpaid lunch)
Work Year:                   180 days (corresponding to the 180 days teachers are on duty)

Qualifications:









  1. High School graduate or equivalent
  2. 60 semester hours of college credit or Illinois Paraprofessional Certificate
  3. CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) license preferred
  4. Current CPR/AED certification
  5. Current Basic First Aid certification
  6. IDPA Vision and Hearing Screening certification
  7. General office skills
  8. Friendly, cheerful and enthusiastic personality
  9. Ability to cooperate with and relate well with students, parents, and staff
  10. Professional attitude about the position
  11. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  12. Ability to successfully follow a flexible and varied schedule


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Compile data and provide results to the School Certified Nurse for annual state reports
  2. Maintain health records, including physical, dental, vision and immunization records
  3. Conduct vision and hearing screenings
  4. Provide first aid assistance
  5. Monitor health office traffic flow
  6. Assist nurse with head lice checks and parent notification
  7. Answer phone and make calls as requested
  8. Assist with self-administration of EpiPen and inhalers as per AHA first aid training and Illinois state law
  9. Additional duties as assigned.
