Produce AssociatePart-TimeDierbergs Markets
Produce Associates work as part of a team to provide our customers with quality products and information about our vast selection. They are friendly, proactive, and help make a positive impact on our store success with their responsibilities:
  • Assist with stocking, display, food prep, truck unloading, quality control and inventory
  • Greet customers and share your knowledge of the department's vast selection of items
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to promote products
  • Safely and efficiently operate and maintain equipment such as code gun, wrapper, scale, knives, microwave oven, lettuce chopper, pineapple corer, pallet jack, and baler (must be at least 18 to operate pallet jack and baler)
  • Ensure that our beautiful Produce department is well-stocked and looks showroom-worthy
  • Price packaged products by using label machine
  • Recondition items returned from the sales floor
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble produce cases
  • Display merchandise to attract customers and promote sales
  • Take orders from customers for special products using the Dierbergs Party Guide (ex: gift baskets)
  • Wash utensils, pots, and pans using detergent in a deep sink
  • Work in 45-to-55-degree preparation area and access 36-degree cooler
  • Follow safe food handling guidelines whenever preparing food, according to S.A.F.E. program standards

Essentials
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Basic math and computer skills (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Ability to work in varied temperature-controlled environments (36-degree cooler and 45-degree prep area). This position involves repeated heavy lifting.
  • Ability to follow safe food-handling guidelines and keep your work area safe and clean
  • Multi-task and work as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays
  • Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule
  • Adherence to our dress code, appearance, and personal hygiene standards
  • Associates in food handling departments are required to receive a Hepatitis A vaccination (MO only)
  • You may be cross-trained in other departments

  • Lifting & Carrying - Up to 50 lbs. occasionally
