Cashiers are front and center, greeting customers, ringing up their items, carefully bagging their items, and making sure they have a fantastic experience. They are an outgoing, dependable person that goes above and beyond while they handle a variety of responsibilities:
  • Greet customers and engage in friendly conversation
  • Scan items quickly and correctly
  • Operate the register or monitor self-checkout accepting various forms of payment (ex: gift cards, credits, debits, EBT cards, tax exempts, store charge, and WIC vouchers)
  • Use equipment such as computer terminal, scanner, keyboard, code book, intercom system, calculator, printer, telephone, coupon machine, etc. accurately
  • Verify customer identification for liquor and tobacco purchases according to state law and Dierbergs policy
  • Bag customers' items with care and load items into customer's cart
  • Keep equipment in proper working order
  • Keep work area sanitary by using company-approved cleaners and equipment
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries
  • Observe and report shoplifters
Essentials
  • Read basic information which contains a number of details and describes procedures involving several steps.
  • Basic computer and math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays
  • Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule
