Job Summary:

Saint Ignatius College Prep seeks a mission-driven Head Baseball Coach for the 2027 spring season to lead the vision, culture, and operations of the baseball program across all levels. Reporting to the Athletic Directors, the ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, educational, and strategic skills, along with deep baseball knowledge and a passion for developing student-athletes as whole person's mind, body, and spirit. This role requires collaborative leadership and operational excellence in support of the school's broader mission, ensuring the program reflects the Jesuit tradition of forming "men and women for others."

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the baseball program by planning and directing practices, competitions, and player development in alignment with the school's mission and values.
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture that supports the growth of student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Athletic Department, families, and school community to ensure strong communication, program operations, and overall program success.

Qualifications Required

  • Strong teaching, leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to effectively support student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and families.
  • Ability to foster a positive, disciplined team culture centered on sportsmanship, strong work ethic, and student development.
  • Passion for baseball and commitment to the overall high school athletics experience.
  • Ability to effectively and positively communicate with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators. 
  • Ability to support and contribute to a competitive and comprehensive interscholastic baseball program. 

Qualifications Preferred

  • Previous head coaching and/or competitive playing experience in baseball.
  • Experience supporting and developing a competitive interscholastic athletics program.  
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Catholic League. 
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with student athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor student-athletes and collaborate effectively with the school community.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required during the athletic season.
  • Ability to actively lead practices and games in indoor and outdoor athletic environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, demonstrate skills, and lift/move athletic equipment as needed.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Seasonal, part-time position for the spring athletic season.
  • Evening and weekend availability required for practices, games, and team events.
  • Salary Range: Stipend ~$6,500-$7,700, commensurate with experience.
