Position Summary

InLine, LLC is seeking experienced Skilled Construction Laborers / Equipment Operators to support underground electrical, fiber optic, communications, roadway lighting, traffic signal, and ITS construction projects.

This position is best suited for individuals with experience operating excavators and other civil construction equipment used for underground conduit installation, excavation, foundations, pole installation, and general utility construction.

This is a hands-on field position. Equipment Operators are expected to operate equipment safely and efficiently while also working alongside the crew as needed to complete construction activities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, mini excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trenchers, plows, loaders, forklifts, lifts, and other construction equipment.
• Excavate, trench, backfill, compact, and restore areas associated with underground electrical and communications installations.
• Install HDPE duct, PVC conduit, electrical conduit, pull boxes, handholes, vaults, equipment enclosures, and related underground infrastructure.
• Assist with installation and pulling of fiber optic, electrical, and communications cable.
• Operate or assist with directional boring equipment, augers, drill rigs, and foundation equipment.
• Excavate and prepare foundations for roadway lighting, traffic signals, ITS equipment, electrical equipment, and communications infrastructure.
• Assist with setting steel poles, direct-bury concrete poles, cabinets, structures, and other equipment using appropriate lifting and rigging equipment.
• Work safely around existing underground and overhead utilities.
• Read and follow construction plans, roadway plans, utility drawings, and project specifications.
• Load, unload, stage, transport, and secure construction materials and equipment.
• Install and maintain temporary traffic control/MOT when required.
• Perform general construction activities and use hand and power tools as needed.
• Maintain equipment, tools, vehicles, and jobsites in a safe and organized condition.
• Participate in emergency and storm-restoration activities when required.
  

Qualifications Required

• Previous experience in civil construction, underground utilities, electrical construction, telecommunications, fiber construction, roadway construction, or a related field.
• Experience operating construction equipment, with excavator and excavation experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work safely around underground utilities and active construction operations.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background, MVR, and drug screening.
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, mud, and other changing conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding construction work.
• Ability to travel and work overtime, nights, or weekends when project schedules require.
  

Preferred Experience

• Class A CDL.
• Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).
• Excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trenchers, or plows.
• Underground HDPE conduit installation.
• Pull boxes, handholes, vaults, and equipment enclosures.
• Concrete foundations and pole installation.
• Drill rigs, augers, digger derricks, or lifting equipment.
• Fiber optic or underground electrical construction.
• Utility locating.
• Traffic control/MOT.
• OSHA, ATSSA, IMSA, First Aid/CPR, or equipment-operation certifications.
  

Candidates are not expected to have experience with every piece of equipment or construction activity listed above. We are looking for experienced construction professionals who can safely operate multiple types of equipment, understand underground construction, and are willing to continue developing their skills.

Work Environment

InLine's projects include roadway rights-of-way, medians, shoulders, underground utility corridors, commercial and industrial sites, and active DOT construction projects.

Employees should expect outdoor field conditions, active traffic, heavy equipment, uneven terrain, and changing weather. Travel between projects may be required, including occasional overnight travel, night work, weekend work, or extended shifts based on project needs.
