Job description

SeatGeek believes live events are powerful experiences that unite humans. With our technological savvy and fan-first attitude we're simplifying and modernizing the ticketing industry.
The Platform organization helps turn that vision into reality by providing a secure and reliable foundation for building and shipping products. By reducing complexity and offering well-supported, self-service tools and workflows, we enable teams across SeatGeek to move with confidence, especially during the moments when our systems matter most.
We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join SeatGeek's Cloud Platform team in our Platform organization. In this role, you will help design, build, and operate the core cloud, compute, and networking platforms that support all of SeatGeek's engineering teams. Cloud Platform engineers focus on scalable infrastructure, resilient networking, and well-defined golden paths that allow teams to ship safely and confidently.
SeatGeek has more services and deployments than developers, which means automation, standards, and reliability must be the default. The Cloud Platform team supports both our Enterprise and Consumer businesses as we scale primary and secondary ticketing platforms used by world-class partners and millions of fans.
If this role sounds interesting to you, we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement - we value curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to learn!
What you'll do
  • Core Responsibilities
    • Design, build, and operate shared cloud and networking platforms that support a modern, containerized, service-oriented architecture
    • Improve reliability, observability, security, and scalability through automation, standards, and well-considered abstractions
    • Engineer resilient and observable networking infrastructure that supports a diverse set of workloads across regions and environments
    • Build and maintain golden paths for compute, networking, and infrastructure to help teams deploy and operate services safely
    • Participate in operating production systems, including supporting releases, taking part in an on-call rotation, and contributing to incident response and follow-up work
  • Impact Opportunities
    • Partner with application and platform teams to reduce friction in deployment, routing, monitoring, and scaling
    • Help evolve shared infrastructure tooling, APIs, and standards to improve reliability and developer experience over time
    • Evaluate new technologies and patterns with a focus on maintainability and operational health
    • Use automation and AI-assisted workflows to improve development and operational efficiency
    • Share context and learnings through documentation, design discussions, and mentorship
What you have
You love building resilient infrastructure but have an even greater love for how it's deployed and managed. You make decisions based on data and are not afraid of experimenting to get the information you need. While checking every item below isn't necessary, you have (or are keen to have!) some of the following:
  • Experience contributing to the design, development, or operation of cloud and infrastructure platforms that support other engineers or teams
  • Hands-on experience running production workloads on AWS, including designing and operating infrastructure using Terraform or similar infrastructure as code tools
  • Experience building, operating, or supporting systems on Kubernetes (EKS), including containerized workloads and supporting platform services
  • Experience designing or operating service networking and routing, such as service discovery, traffic management, or edge routing using tools like Cilium, Envoy, Kong, or Fastly
  • Familiarity with observability practices and tools such as Datadog, and using metrics, logs, and traces to diagnose issues and improve system reliability
  • Ability to write and maintain automation or tooling in Go, Python, or Bash, with an emphasis on clarity, safety, and long-term maintainability
  • A thoughtful approach to engineering craftsmanship, including clean abstractions, readable code, and systems that are easy for others to operate
  • Comfort collaborating across teams, explaining infrastructure and networking concepts clearly, and turning broad needs into practical technical solutions
  • Commitment to learning and growth through knowledge sharing, documentation, and mentorship
Our stack
You do not need experience with all of these, but we thought you might be curious. What we care about is your experience, skills, and approach to problem solving. Tools can be learned.
  • Languages: Go, Python, HCL, YAML, Bash
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes and EKS, Terraform
  • Networking: Cilium, Envoy, Kong, Fastly
  • Observability and Incident Management: Datadog
  • Datastores: Postgres, Redis, Kafka
  • Secrets management: Vault
  • Version control and CI/CD: GitLab and GitLab CI
  • AI tooling: Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code
Perks
  • Equity stake
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Flexible work environment, allowing you to work as many days a week in the office as you'd like or 100% remotely
  • A WFH stipend to support your home office setup
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Up to 16 weeks of fully-paid family leave
  • 401(k) matching
  • Student loan matching program
  • Health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Up to $25k towards family building, reproductive health services and Gender-affirming care
  • $500 per year for wellness expenses
  • Subscriptions to Headspace (meditation), Headspace Care (therapy), and One Medical
  • $360 per quarter to spend on tickets to live events
  • Annual subscription to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon music

The salary range for this role is $144,000 - $209,000 USD. This role is equity eligible. In addition, you may receive a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
