Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting the direction of the respiratory care department. Employee is sought out by others for advice, training, and clarification of job related knowledge. Effectively communicates, coordinates, delegates, makes assignments and manages the daily activities of the respiratory care department. Facilitates, organizes, and reviews the daily workflow to deliver maximal service to patients. Prioritizes, motivates, and promotes quality patient care to support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Swedish Medical Center. Ensures facility technical and documentation expectations are consistent with JCAHO regulations and SMC standards. Positively demonstrates concern and consideration when interacting with patients, medical staff, and employees. Demonstrates independent critical thinking skills for daily activity and patient flow of the respiratory care department and assumes accountability for personal and team contributions. Responsible for completing employee annual performance evaluations, as directed, as well as system analysis, implementation and management of budgetary requirements. Covers patient care caseloads as directed. Responsible and accountable for the full range of human resource management of staff. These activities include, but are not limited to, recruitment and retention, orientation process, staff development and performance enhancement, ensuring productivity, coaching and counseling staff, delegation of departmental work responsibilities and evaluation of staff. Performs other duties as assigned by respiratory care director. Embrace and consistently demonstrate Swedish Memorable Care initiatives, encompassing both patients and employees.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current Colorado Respiratory License

Current BLS certification – AHA or ARC

Current ACLS certification – AHA or ARC

Current PALS certification – AHA or ARC

RRT credential required

B. Education:

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

Graduate of AMA accredited Respiratory Therapist Program

C. Experience:

Five years clinician experience preferred. Three years supervisor experience preferred.
