The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.Qualifications:

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

For theCP-10 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experienceequivalent to the CP-09/GS-11: Significant supervision of components of aChemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) incidentresponse program and personnel.  Planningand directing hazardous materials incident response operations. Developing andmonitoring training programs for CBRNE incident response and emergency medicalresponder certifications.  Determiningequipment and resource requirements to ensure operational readiness for CBRNEincidents. Providing input in the budget preparation process. 

In addition to the specializedexperience described above:

Forthe CP-11 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experienceequivalent to the CP-10/GS-12: Substantial management of a comprehensive, fullyoperational Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE)incident response program. Service as a subject matter expert in CBRNE incidentresponse, investigation, mitigation, evaluation, and personnel decontamination.Significant knowledge and ability to manage CBRNE incident response plans,hazardous materials training, emergency medical responder and respiratoryprotection programs. Competency in planning and guiding budget preparationprocess and monitoring execution.
In addition to the specializedexperience described above applicants:

Forthe CP-12 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experienceequivalent to the CP-11/GS-13: Mastery in leading a comprehensive, fullyoperational Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE)incident response program. Service as an expert authority in responding toCBRNE incidents, conducting consequence management operations throughinvestigation, mitigation, evaluation and personnel decontamination. Managementand oversight of enterprise-wide CBRNE incident response plans, hazardousmaterials training, emergency medical responder and respiratory protectionprograms. Proficiency in budget formulation and execution.
ALL APPLICANTS MUST possess Hazardous Materials (HM) Technician, HM Branch Officer, HM Safety Officer, and HM Incident Commander certifications accreditedby either the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications(NBFSPQ) or the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) andbe able to display and apply knowledge and training from the certification.
Applicantsmust also possess one of the following: National Registry of Emergency MedicalTechnicians certifications; EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic.
