Ace Hardware - Hire For Full-Time Yard Associate

A Yard Associate provides excellent customer service to every customer, upholds our mission and values, processes sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently with a helpful attitude and

demeanor. A Yard Associate must strive to amaze every customer every time, thank them for their purchase, and invite them to shop again.

Essential Duties:

  • Unload and check-in freight from vendors.
  • Load deliveries in van or truck.
  • Backstock all items designated for yard storage.
  • Restock all bagged goods.
  • Perform deliveries to customer locations, ensuring goods are transported safely and timely.
  • Perform carry outs for customers.
  • Build grills, wheelbarrows, patio furniture, etc.
  • Keep the yard secure, clean and safe.
  • Be aware of and follow all safety and store cleanliness standards.
  • Be knowledgeable and actively participate in all sales promotions and other campaigns.
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service and build customer relations.
  • Be aware of store goals and performance against those goals.
  • Review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations.
  • Operate forklift, which requires completion of training and a valid driver’s license.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.
  • Always maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and name tag.
  • Fill propane tanks safely and efficiently
  • Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.
  • Perform driving duties as required, including transporting goods and materials between locations or to customers.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate a van, truck, and forklift (training provided if needed).
  • Exceptional customer service skills & the ability to help maintain a customer focused culture.
  • Ability to use Epicor Eagle, computer, telephone, and other equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact with customers of various backgrounds, vendors, co-workers, guests, and Ace corporate representatives.
  • A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, as well as frequent walking, reaching, and bending to perform job duties.
  • Move and handle merchandise up to 50 pounds.
  • Adjust fixtures throughout the store, which entails assembling, lifting and displaying.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
