What is a happy dog?

A 'Happy Dog' typically refers to a dog that exhibits signs of contentment, good health, and positive behavior. These signs may include wagging their tail, relaxed body language, regular playfulness, healthy appetite, and eagerness to interact with people and other pets. Maintaining a happy dog involves regular exercise, proper nutrition, socialization, and routine veterinary check-ups. Ensuring your dog’s emotional and physical needs are met is key to their overall happiness and well-being.

What are some common challenges faced by professional dog walkers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Professional dog walkers often encounter challenges such as managing dogs with different temperaments, handling inclement weather, and coordinating multiple client schedules. Effective communication with pet owners and continuous observation of each dog's behavior are key to maintaining safety and client satisfaction. Utilizing scheduling apps and maintaining flexibility can help streamline daily routines, while ongoing training in animal behavior ensures a positive walking experience for both dogs and walker.

Part-Time Pet Sitter & Dog Walker - Weekday Daytime

No Place Like Home Pet Sitting & Dog Walking

Haddon Heights, NJ • On-site

Part-time

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

Looking for a great fall job? Join our pet care team!

Crisp fall air, colorful South Jersey neighborhoods, happy dogs waiting for their walks, and plenty of furry faces to brighten your day — if that sounds better than sitting behind a desk, we may have the perfect opportunity for you.

No Place Like Home Pet Sitting & Dog Walking has been caring for local pets since 2010, and we're looking for dependable, compassionate animal lovers to join our team this fall.

Weekday Daytime Availability Needed

Our biggest need is for team members who are consistently available Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

This schedule can be a great fit for:

  • Stay-at-home parents with children in school
  • Active retirees who would enjoy staying busy and earning extra income
  • College students taking online classes with daytime flexibility
  • Anyone looking for part-time, supplemental daytime income
  • People who would rather spend their day walking dogs than sitting at a desk

Weekend and holiday availability is appreciated but is not required for this position.

What You'll Do

  • Walk dogs and provide exercise, companionship, and lots of attention
  • Care for cats and occasionally other small pets
  • Feed pets and refresh water
  • Administer medications when needed
  • Scoop litter boxes and clean up the occasional pet mess
  • Send photos and detailed visit updates through our easy-to-use app
  • Travel between clients' homes throughout your scheduled work period

Who We're Looking For

Our clients trust us with two of the things most important to them — their pets and their homes — so reliability and good judgment are extremely important.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible
  • Friendly, compassionate, and professional
  • Calm under pressure
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Confident using a smartphone for scheduling, photos, and visit reports
  • Able to stay active and work outdoors in changing South Jersey weather
  • Interested in becoming a long-term member of our team, not a seasonal employee

We ask for a minimum one-year commitment.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Current auto insurance
  • Ability to travel between clients' homes during your shift
  • Able to pass a background check

Previous pet care experience is a plus, but we're happy to train the right person. Reliability, common sense, attention to detail, and a genuine love of animals matter most.

What We Offer

  • Above-minimum-wage hourly pay
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Paid training
  • Paid sick time after eligibility requirements are met
  • Performance-based raises and bonus opportunities
  • A supportive, friendly team
  • Independent, active work with some pretty adorable coworkers

We're Local — And You Should Be, Too!

We primarily serve Haddon Heights, Collingswood, Haddonfield, Audubon, Oaklyn, Barrington, and nearby communities.

Applicants who live within or very close to our service area generally have the most efficient routes and are strongly preferred.

Please note: We are unable to respond to phone inquiries regarding employment.

If you're looking for a part-time position where you can get out of the house, stay active, earn extra income, and spend part of your day with animals, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for dependable people who want to become long-term members of the No Place Like Home Pet Sitting & Dog Walking team.
