Description
Job Title: Truck Driver
Department: Focus: HOPE Food
Reports To: Warehouse Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Statement of Duties:
Responsible for delivering commodities utilizing company vehicle with attached 48-53-foot trailer. Transporting to local locations usually on a one-day basis.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Report to the Central Warehouse Manager for daily assignment of deliveries.
  • Complete and submit inspection sheets and log sheets as required.
  • Make sure all bills of lading, package slips, and shippers are turned in to the Food Center Manager or Food Center Supervisor after each run.
  • Assist in Central Warehouse when there is no driving assignment.
  • Report any delays in loading or unloading immediately to management.
  • Maintain listing of emergency numbers, procedures and contacts in vehicle.
  • Responsible for State of Michigan and Focus Hope daily and periodic maintenance truck logs
  • Deliver food boxes to participating agencies.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods sitting when driving the vehicle long distances within the service areas.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times

  • Michigan CDL endorsement Group (B) and all proper Michigan medical certifications required.

Education, Training and Experience:
  • High school graduate or its equivalent and three to five years over the road experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must obtain, annually renew and possess during working hours a Medical Examiner's Certificate for commercial driver medical certification. Medical Examiner's Certificate (also known as a DOT Medical Card)
