Job description

Title: Sewing Machine Operator
Department: Operations
Reports to: Production Manager
Type: Full-Time Hourly/flexible scheduling
Overview:
Working as a Sewing Machine Operator, you will be responsible for manufacturing tactical sewn goods for Defense Mechanisms (DBA Enlightened Equipment).
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities and duties of this position are, but not limited to:
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures;
  • Follows all quality methods, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency of work;
  • Reads order-specific job travelers and/or engineered drawings to ensure each order is produced to specifications;
  • Uses an industrial sewing machine and/or serger/overlock machine;
  • Completes all job duties within given time constraints;
  • Performs other duties as assigned;
  • Cross-trains between several different jobs;
  • Cleans and maintains work area;
  • Pursues continuous improvement to improve the efficiency of job duties and workflow;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment;
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision;
  • Needs good visual judgment to notice errors and/or defects;
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure;
  • Have a positive attitude and be able to manage your time accordingly;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Must be able to manage time appropriately.

Physical Requirements and Environment:
  • Must be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 30 lbs. without assistance;
  • Involves sitting for long periods as required;
  • Requires repetitive movement and extensive use of hands;
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination and good eyesight

Preferred Position Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma, GED, or higher;
  • Previous sewing experience.

Benefits and Paid Time Off
  • Immediate 100 hours of PTO granted (50 hours start January 1st and are refreshed July 1st)
  • Company pays 70% of medical insurance, 100% of vision and dental insurance, and we match 5% for our 401(k)
  • We offer a flexible working schedule and are open 58 hours per week, You let us know when you can work to make your 40 hours. The building is open Monday through Thursday, 6 am - 6 pm, and on Friday we are open 6 am - 4 pm.
  • Pay starts at $16.40 per hour, your yearly increases are based on your quality and efficiency, and you could earn up to an additional $2.00 per year. The current hourly pay caps at $24.07/hr.
  • Temperature-controlled, clean work environment.
