What is hand modeling?

A hand modeling job involves using your hands to showcase products in advertisements, commercials, and editorial shoots. Hand models are often hired for their well-groomed, symmetrical hands and fingers. They may pose with jewelry, skincare products, or handle objects to highlight their features. Professional hand models must maintain their hands carefully and often work with photographers, directors, and brands. It is a specialized niche within the modeling industry that requires precision and attention to detail.

What does a hand model do?

A typical workday for a Hand Model often involves traveling to studios or on-location shoots, where you'll work closely with photographers, stylists, and product teams to showcase items like jewelry, cosmetics, or technology. You'll spend considerable time following exact instructions to position your hands for the best angles and lighting, with frequent attention paid to skincare and nail maintenance before and during shoots. Downtime can be spent waiting for setup changes, reviewing creative direction, or caring for your hands. Collaboration with creative professionals and adaptability to different shoot requirements are integral parts of the job, offering variety and the potential to work on high-profile campaigns.

What skills and qualifications are needed for hand modeling?

To thrive as a Hand Model, you need well-groomed, symmetrical, and photogenic hands, along with an understanding of posing and hand care routines. Familiarity with photographic studios, posing aids, and sometimes specialized skincare products is beneficial, though no formal certifications are typically required. Patience, attention to detail, and the ability to take direction help hand models excel during long shoots and precise positioning. These skills ensure consistent professional presentation and maximize opportunities in advertising, fashion, and commercial work.

Are hand models in high demand?

Hand modeling is a niche profession with steady demand in advertising, fashion, and product photography, especially for jewelry, skincare, and hand care products. Opportunities can vary based on industry needs, and successful hand models often maintain well-groomed, healthy hands and may need to build a strong portfolio to attract clients.

Revit/BIM Modeler - Electrical

SSOE, Inc.

Phoenix, AZ • On-site

Full-time

Job description

Overview
Within SSOE's Tool Install division, we specialize in high-tech Tool Installation design, offering top-tier design and engineering services to a diverse array of clients and markets. Our team is composed of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals who excel across various disciplines. We pride ourselves on our cross-disciplinary approach, which allows us to understand and address our clients' needs more comprehensively than traditional, siloed methods.
As a Revit Modeler on SSOE's Tool Install team, you will build and maintain electrical Revit models for semiconductor fab and advanced-manufacturing clients. You will maintain work sets, manage linked architectural, structural, process, and mechanical models, and build Revit families for conduit, wiring, and tool interface points that get reused across the program.
You will sit alongside engineers, designers, and project managers at the client's North Phoenix facility, joining weekly multi-discipline clash coordination sessions in Navisworks and turning red-line markups into coordinated model updates within the same design cycle. You will learn SSOE's design process first-hand: model health checks before each milestone, QA/QC and annotation audits before issue for construction, and documented change control when scope shifts mid-package.
AI and Innovation
At SSOE, we don't just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you'll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.
Responsibilities
BIM Development & Model Management:
  • Model electrical systems in Revit across concept, design development, and construction documents, maintaining alignment with SSOE and client BIM standards and project execution plans.
  • Build and refine Revit families, templates, view templates, and shared parameters that improve modeling speed and consistency across the tool install program.
  • Set up and maintain work sets, linked models, coordinates, and file naming so federated models assemble cleanly at every milestone.
  • Run clash detection in Navisworks, prepare issue logs, track resolution status, and report progress to project managers and the engineer of record.
  • Participate in BIM kick-off and multi-discipline coordination sessions with architecture, structural, mechanical, process, and controls teams.
  • Perform self-checks and support QA/QC reviews, verifying model completeness, annotation accuracy, and consistency between model, specifications, and engineering calculations; flag discrepancies for engineer review.
  • Maintain document control and model collaboration in Autodesk Construction Cloud, including issue tracking and package transmittals.
  • Prepare as-built and record model updates at closeout and support turnover documentation.
  • Contribute to lessons-learned reviews and content library improvements after each package release.

Discipline Design Support:
  • When BIM modeling demand decreases, transition into an active design support role within the electrical team - assisting with equipment layouts, system routing, load calculations, drawing production, or other related design tasks.
  • Route ductwork, process and utility piping, and equipment layouts to maintain code and manufacturer clearances, valve access, and maintainability in congested fab and sub-fab spaces.
  • Support electrical design tasks under supervision: equipment selection takeoffs, wire and conduit sizing input, load calculation setup, and schedule population.
  • Produce sheets, plans, sections, details, schedules, and tagged annotation for permit and issued-for-construction packages.
  • Apply codes such as IMC, IBC, IFGC, NFPA, ASHRAE, ASME, and applicable SEMI standards as directed by the engineer of record.
  • Assist with RFI responses, submittal and shop drawing reviews, and contractor coordination during construction administration.
  • Conduct field walks and existing-condition verification, capturing dimensions, tie-in points, and interferences, then updating the model accordingly.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in electrical design, drafting, engineering technology, or a related field; a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology is equally welcome.
  • Working knowledge of Revit for electrical modeling, including families, work sets, and linked models, gained through demonstrated professional experience.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360.
  • Exposure to Dynamo or Python scripting for Revit automation is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and equipment cut sheets.
  • Baseline familiarity with electrical codes and standards and a willingness to build depth quickly.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with engineers, designers, project managers, and field teams.
  • Able to work onsite daily in a collaborative environment and follow all SSOE and client onsite safety protocols.

Compensation and Work Model
  • The role is based in North Phoenix, Arizona with a fully onsite work schedule at the client facility; remote and hybrid arrangements are not available for this position.
  • Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $40.00/hour ($52,000 - $83,200 annually) Compensation is commensurate with experience, certifications, and project complexity. SSOE reviews pay annually and offers merit-based increases tied to performance milestones.
  • Incentives: Leadership bonus program and ownership investment opportunities. We believe the people who build SSOE should share in its success.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; employer-paid life insurance; and wellness program support.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Professional Growth: Dedicated professional development funding, PE licensure and certification exam support, conference attendance, and structured career advancement programs.
  • Time Off: Generous paid time off (PTO) policy plus paid holidays.
  • Work-Life Balance: SSOE actively supports flexible scheduling within project commitments and a culture that genuinely respects your time outside the office.

Why SSOE
SSOE is an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm that delivers architecture, electrical, mechanical, structural, process, and architectural design under one roof. For someone early in their career, that integration is the fastest classroom available: you will see how a duct route affects structural penetration and an electrical tray run in the same meeting, on the same model. Our culture rewards agility, quality, collaboration, integrity, and innovation, and we back it with real mentorship, defined career paths from modeler to designer to discipline lead, licensure and certification support, and knowledge sharing across offices.
