Are hand models in high demand?

Hand modeling is a niche profession with steady demand in advertising, fashion, and product photography, especially for jewelry, skincare, and hand care products. Opportunities can vary based on industry needs, and successful hand models often maintain well-groomed hands and may need to build a portfolio to attract clients.

What is hand modeling?

A hand modeling job involves using your hands to showcase products in advertisements, commercials, and editorial shoots. Hand models are often hired for their well-groomed, symmetrical hands and fingers. They may pose with jewelry, skincare products, or handle objects to highlight their features. Professional hand models must maintain their hands carefully and often work with photographers, directors, and brands. It is a specialized niche within the modeling industry that requires precision and attention to detail.

What skills and qualifications are needed for hand modeling?

To thrive as a Hand Model, you need well-groomed, symmetrical, and photogenic hands, along with an understanding of posing and hand care routines. Familiarity with photographic studios, posing aids, and sometimes specialized skincare products is beneficial, though no formal certifications are typically required. Patience, attention to detail, and the ability to take direction help hand models excel during long shoots and precise positioning. These skills ensure consistent professional presentation and maximize opportunities in advertising, fashion, and commercial work.

What does a hand model do?

A typical workday for a Hand Model often involves traveling to studios or on-location shoots, where you'll work closely with photographers, stylists, and product teams to showcase items like jewelry, cosmetics, or technology. You'll spend considerable time following exact instructions to position your hands for the best angles and lighting, with frequent attention paid to skincare and nail maintenance before and during shoots. Downtime can be spent waiting for setup changes, reviewing creative direction, or caring for your hands. Collaboration with creative professionals and adaptability to different shoot requirements are integral parts of the job, offering variety and the potential to work on high-profile campaigns.

Job description

What we're doing
We're building the AI-powered coaching platform that transforms how gamers learn, compete, and win. Backed by a16z and $12M in funding, we're live in 5 titles with 100K+ users, expanding rapidly into new games, hardware partnerships, and SDK integrations.

You'll Thrive Here If...

  • You're energized by ambiguity and move fast to bring clarity where others stall.
  • You get a rush from finding the simple, elegant solution to a messy, complex problem.
  • You think like a GM//always asking how a product choice impacts revenue, growth, and user success.
  • You're creative at problem solving - able to structure messy problems, build frameworks, and beat ambiguity with clear, actionable paths forward.

Some things you'll do

  • User discovery & insights
    • Embed yourself into gamer communities (Reddit, Discord, conferences) to surface real user needs and trends.
    • Talk to users, run surveys, and synthesize feedback into actionable insights.
    • Translate customer problems & business goals into clear, prioritized product requirements.
    • Analyze product usage patterns (SQL, Mixpanel) and connect insights directly to business outcomes.

  • Data-driven decision-making
    • Define success metrics, own dashboards/funnels/experiment readouts, and deliver decision-ready insights.
    • Size and scope opportunities using product data, market sizing, and an 80/20 lens to de-risk decisions quickly.
    • Identify opportunities to double down, design/run experiments (A/B tests, pilots), and present clear recommendations.

  • Product strategy & execution support
    • Surface & scope opportunities - investigate market pain points, partner with leadership on shaping strategy, then translate direction into scopes, specs, and cross-team execution.
    • Write scopes/specs, manage JIRA, and keep initiatives moving smoothly across Design/Eng/Marketing
    • Support launch plans, onboarding flows, rollout processes, and usage monitoring.
    • Connect product metrics to conversion, activation, retention, and revenue

Skills You'll Bring

  • Product & business foundation
2+ years of PM experience at a product-driven tech company, owning meaningful product surface area (B2C a plus)
2+ years in investment banking, strategy consulting, or a similar analytical/business role

  • Analytical & strategic
Strong ability to structure ambiguous problems, form hypotheses, design/interpret experiments, and make data-driven decisions
GM-like mindset with awareness of how product connects to revenue, growth models, pricing, and go-to-market

  • Execution & product sense
Nice to have - Shipped AI-powered products or features (LLMs, recommendation engines, intelligent automation)
Ability to deconstruct visions into clear, actionable roadmaps that align with company objectives

  • Mindset & communication
    Ownership-first, bias-to-action, thrives in early-stage/high-urgency environments
Deep user empathy, first-principles thinker, obsessed with simple, elegant solutions
Excellent communicator who can turn chaos into clarity and align stakeholders

You WILL NOT enjoy this role if

  • You need a rigid playbook or lots of hand-holding - this is a fast-moving startup with shifting priorities.
  • You avoid digging into data or SQL, being data informed is core to this role.
  • You prefer long research cycles over shipping quickly and iterating.
  • You're uncomfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
  • You aren't naturally hyper-organized you'll be expected to keep metrics, JIRA, specs, and experiments tidy and up-to-date so the team can move fast.
  • You don't play video games
