Job description

Private family seeks an exceptionally polished, hospitality-focused House Manager / Cook to oversee the day-to-day operations, organization, service, and upkeep of their New York City and Hamptons residences. This is a highly hands-on role for a service-oriented professional who takes pride in creating a warm, welcoming, impeccably maintained home environment while ensuring the seamless operation of both households.

This role is primarily based in New York City with a Hamptons extension during the summer season. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing household operations, coordinating vendors and household logistics, maintaining household standards, and providing hospitality support across both residences throughout the year. The typical schedule will consist of Thursday through Monday, with flexibility required based on the family's entertaining needs, travel schedule, and seasonal demands. Live-in accommodations will be provided during the Hamptons summer season.

Cooking is a supportive component of this role. The House Manager will prepare simple, healthy, home-style meals for the principals as needed and collaborate with another household employee and chef to ensure the family's dining needs are met. • Ensure all household spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, readiness, and functionality
  • Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors, deliveries, and household service providers
  • Manage household inventories, supplies, pantry stocking, and household purchasing
  • Anticipate household needs and proactively address maintenance, organizational, and operational priorities
  • Assist with seasonal transitions between NYC and Hamptons residences
  • Support household logistics, errands, scheduling, and special projects as requested
  • Provide polished yet warm hospitality service for family members and guests
  • Assist with formal and informal entertaining and special gatherings
  • Maintain guest-facing spaces to impeccable standards and ensure residences remain guest-ready at all times
  • Prepare simple breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and home-style family meals as needed when chef coverage is not utilized
  • Assist with grocery shopping, pantry management, kitchen organization, and maintaining a well-stocked household
  • Collaborate closely with another household employee who shares meal preparation responsibilities
  • Additional House Manager responsibilities as needed and requested

Requirements:

  • Strong command of English language; outstanding writing and verbal skills
  • Excellent references from both current and former employers
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working in a private estate
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and commitment to confidentiality and safety
  • Comfortable preparing healthy, home-style meals and family favorites when needed
  • Understanding that cooking responsibilities are supplemental to the primary House Manager function of the role
  • Experience working within a collaborative household staff environment
  • Valid Driver's License; confident driver with zero points
  • Valid Passport; willing and able to travel both domestic and internationally as needed to provide seamless care
  • Able to legally work within the United States for any employer

Compensation: $120,000–$140,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Benefits: Healthcare stipend/benefits package, PTO
