Job description

Seasonal Haunted House Actor

Position Type: Seasonal / Part-Time
Schedule: Four Saturday nights in October
Shift Length: Approximately 5 hours per shift
Location: Ripley's Believe it Or not San Antonio! Nightmare at the Wax Museum

Position Overview

Are you energetic, creative, and ready to scare the socks off our guests? Ripley's is seeking enthusiastic Seasonal Haunted House Actors to help create a thrilling and unforgettable Halloween experience.

Actors will portray various characters throughout the attraction while wearing costumes, masks, makeup, and special effects. The ideal candidate is comfortable performing in character, interacting with guests, and working in a dark, themed environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Portray a haunted character while remaining in character throughout the shift.
  • Deliver scares, surprises, and interactive performances in designated scenes.
  • Follow choreography, safety procedures, and assigned scare locations.
  • Wear provided costumes, masks, makeup, and/or props as required.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow actors and attraction staff.
  • Maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm throughout the evening.
  • Help create a safe, fun, and memorable guest experience.
  • Follow all attraction rules and operational guidelines.
  • Attend any required pre-season orientation or training session.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old (or local minimum hiring age).
  • Comfortable performing in front of large groups of guests.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work all four Saturday nights in October.
  • Able to follow direction and maintain character consistency.
  • Previous acting, theater, improv, or haunted attraction experience is a plus but not required.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to have fun.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and move throughout the attraction for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in dim lighting, themed environments, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear costumes, masks, makeup, and themed accessories for several hours.
  • Ability to project voice and perform energetic movements throughout the shift.
