SALON ASSOCIATE STYLIST PROGRAM — BESPOKE HAIR
Bespoke Hair is an established San Diego salon with more than two decades of experience creating beautiful hair, meaningful guest relationships and an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
We are seeking a motivated cosmetology graduate or newly licensed stylist to join our Associate Stylist Program—a structured pathway designed to bridge the gap between cosmetology school and becoming a confident, successful stylist behind the chair.
This is more than a traditional salon assistant position. Associates work alongside experienced stylists while developing the technical skills, guest-care habits and business-building knowledge needed to progress into a Level 1 Stylist position at Bespoke Hair.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Through hands-on assisting, guided practice, online education, salon classes, model work and individual coaching, associates develop skills in:
• Guest consultations and communication
• Shampooing, scalp care and treatment services
• Haircutting foundations
• Root color, grey coverage and maintenance color
• Blonding, foiling and dimensional color
• Toning, formulation and color application
• Perms and texture services
• Blow-drying, styling and finishing
• Product knowledge and home-care recommendations
• Rebooking, guest retention and relationship building
• Time management, service efficiency and salon performance goals
WHAT THE ROLE INCLUDES
Associates support both the guest experience and the daily flow of the salon. Responsibilities include:
• Preparing guests and stylists for services
• Shampooing, applying treatments and assisting with color services
• Mixing color under the direction of a licensed stylist
• Performing approved services as skills are developed
• Keeping stations and shared spaces clean, organized and guest-ready
• Supporting laundry, sanitation and other shared salon responsibilities
• Participating in required education, coaching and model work
• Completing training assignments within established timelines
• Gradually serving guests during opportunity shifts as readiness is demonstrated
Responsibilities and independence increase as each associate demonstrates consistency, professionalism and technical readiness.

YOUR PATH TO BECOMING A LEVEL STYLIST
The goal of the Associate Stylist Program is advancement into a Level 1 Stylist position.
Progress is based on demonstrated readiness—not simply time in the program. Associates receive clear expectations, regular feedback and opportunities to show growth in:

• Efficiency and time management

• Model work and service readiness
• Rebooking, retail education and business-building habits

QUALIFICATIONS
• Completion of an accredited cosmetology program
• Active California cosmetology license or confirmed eligibility to obtain one before performing hands-on services
• Foundational knowledge of haircutting, color and styling
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical responsibilities of a salon position
• Availability for required education and training
• Previous salon experience is helpful but not required
• Genuine interest in guest care and continued professional development
