Licensed Hairstylist/Cosmetologists Job Description

At Great Clips – Staten Island, NY we want customers to be loyal to Great Clips so they return for their new haircut, and the one after that, and the one after that. This means we need to hire STYLISTS WITH A TEAM-ORIENTED ATTITUDE to create customer loyalty. Every stylist at our salon must focus on three pillars that are important to our customers…Comfort, Freedom and Connection. You can consistently deliver the Great Clips brand promise of ”Great Clips care more about you” by delivering the 5 Steps to Customer Care with every customer, every time, in every salon.

How Pay is Measured/Determined for Licensed Hair Stylist/Cosmetologist

Given our number of customers, the average stylist at Great Clips – Staten Island, NY can expect to make between $2400 - $4000 per month when working fulltime (at least 35 hours a week) . Pay is a combination of the following:

  • Hourly base pay
  • Haircut time - Productivity bonus
  • Product - Product Bonus
  • Customer Gratuity

Licensed Hair Stylist/Cosmetologists Qualifications

  • Current cosmetology or barber license as required by NY regulations
  • Commitment to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings
  • Dedication to great customer service
  • Commitment to follow the 5 Steps to Customer Care with every customer, every time, in every salon
  • Ability to cut hair for an extended period and provide quality haircuts in a fast-paced environment
  • Skill to listen and understand what the customer wants
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively resolve customer issues
  • Skill to use a computer to track customer information

Ability to read and speak English

Licensed Hair Stylist/Cosmetologist Physical Requirements

  • Reaching: extending hand(s) and arm(s) primarily at or above the shoulder
  • Standing: particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Frequent washing of hands
  • Be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Hazards may include, but are not limited to, slipping
  • Repetitive motions: substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers

  • in-Salon hair cutting: 1 year

Required license or certification:
