Description
The Global & North America Director of AVEDA Hair Color & Professional products is focused on developing New Product Launches, Commercial Innovations, messaging and programs for salon professional hair color, professional salon products and related accessories to launch in Aveda salons & institutes.
The ideal candidate would have a cosmetology license or at least intimate understanding of hair color formulation, performance, user expectation and experience and salon activity. This role will require a leadership that demonstrates an entrepreneurial, growth-minded spirit, balanced across independence, collaboration and curiosity and will work in lock step with our R&D, Education, DCE and sales partners to deliver holistic 360 programs to life.
Embracing art and science, this role requires a marketing leader who can connect with a variety of partners, creating compelling, insight-led narratives and data-backed business and brand rationale. Partners will range from commercially- to- creatively-led audiences within both North America and across the globe (ie salon owners, regional and market teams, distributors, education, retail partners, finance, demand planning, global creative internal teams, stylists / artists, etc.)
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Education on development of Hair Color support tools (color charts, swatch books, etc.)
  • Collaborate w/ Education & R&D on Research Salon Testing
    • In use confirmation competitor and benchmark setting
    • Internal only -shade matching (hair color)
    • Formula evaluations to inform preliminary formula approvals (PFA)
  • Participate in Blue Sky panels (4X year)
  • Lead strategic price planning for the Pro Hair category (includes NPL and annual price plans for existing business)
  • Lead competitive analysis, claims development/alignment, test plan validation, sensory testing, finalize/approve test plans, finalize claims summary & handle all legal approvals
  • Lead development of Global launch toolkits
  • Lead development of Asset grids & messaging (manage 3-5 rounds of review and consolidate feedback across all functions)
  • Lead development of Seasonal Creative briefs + asset reviews
  • Portfolio management (SKU productivity, rationalization, discos)
  • Lead development of package copy & design brief

Qualifications
  • 5-7 Years of experience in related marketing experience
  • 3 years of experience in haircolor and professional product marketing
  • Cosmetology license is preferred, but not required
  • Bachelor's degree is required, MBA is a plus
  • Proven marketing experience ideating, strategizing and executing professional hair color and professional product NPL, commercial innovation, messaging, programs and support across physical, digital and social channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop human-centered marketing campaigns across a variety of channel types and formats
  • Experience working across international and local, regional markets to shape vision and deliver execution
  • Comfort leading cross-functional teams with partners ranging from creative, brand, marketing, finance and field
  • Outstanding strategic, problem solving and thought leadership skills
  • Excellent communicator, collaborator who is unafraid to take on new challenges and lead and influence teams toward delivery
  • Strong ability to manage timelines, define milestones and maneuver through fast-paced, nuanced environments
  • Capable of developing clear, high-impact creative briefs and guiding creative teams from strategy to delivery and impact
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects requiring synthesis of data into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication, presentation, cross functional collaboration and relationship building skills are critical
