Job Description
As an HVAC Foreman, you will lead the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems on commercial construction projects. This role involves supervising crews, coordinating with project managers and other trades, and ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and in compliance with plans, specifications, and code requirements.
Essential Job Functions
โ€ข Lead daily HVAC crew operations, assigning tasks and tracking progress
โ€ข Conduct daily Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and enforce all safety and PPE protocols
โ€ข Inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation
โ€ข Supervise job site activities in alignment with project plans and schedules
โ€ข Interpret HVAC plans, MEP drawings, and blueprints for accurate execution
โ€ข Coordinate with GC Site Supervisors and other trades to maintain workflow and avoid conflicts
โ€ข Prepare and submit material lists in advance to prevent delays
โ€ข Mobilize equipment and materials, report shortages, malfunctions, or field issues
โ€ข Perform quality control checks to ensure compliance with specs and code
โ€ข Submit daily Foreman Logs with crew hours and whiteboard photo documentation
โ€ข Communicate field updates, RFIs, material needs, and safety incidents to Project Managers
โ€ข Lead weekly toolbox talks and whiteboard planning sessions
โ€ข Train and mentor apprentices and new team members on the job
โ€ข Serve as the primary on-site contact for inspections and field-level decisions
โ€ข Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant job site
โ€ข Support the crew by performing HVAC installation or labor tasks as needed
Required Skills and Experience
Leadership Experience: Minimum 4 years in a supervisory role as an HVAC Foreman on commercial construction projects
Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, materials, and applicable codes and standards
Blueprint Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret mechanical layouts, blueprints, and technical drawings
Communication & Coordination: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; capable of interacting professionally with clients, inspectors, and project teams
Team Management: Proven ability to lead crews, delegate tasks, and maintain productivity and safety on active job sites
Physical Capability: Must be able to:
โ€ข Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
โ€ข Safely operate hand and power tools
โ€ข Work on ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms, forklifts, and boom lifts
โ€ข Perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, climbing, twisting, and standing for extended periods
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 30, CPR, AED, and First Responder training encouraged
Screening Requirements: Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment
