Position Overview

Securiguard Services Ltd. is seeking a highly strategic, relationship-driven, and results-oriented Manager, Business Development to lead growth initiatives across Calgary and the surrounding region.

This role is critical to expanding our presence in key sectors including commercial real estate, healthcare, industrial, government, and critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the security industry, public procurement processes, and long-cycle sales environments, along with the ability to build lasting partnerships and drive sustainable revenue growth.

This is not a transactional sales role-we are looking for a professional who can think strategically, assess opportunities, and represent Securiguard as a premium security solutions provider aligned with our REACH values.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities in security industry across Calgary and surrounding markets
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship management
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with market opportunities and company growth objectives
  • Represent Securiguard at industry events, networking functions, and client engagements

Relationship Management (Core Focus)

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including:
    • Property managers
    • Government and public sector clients
    • Industrial and commercial clients
  • Lead in-person meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagements
  • Manage and nurture long sales cycles (6-24 months) with a consultative approach

RFP & Proposal Development (Critical Function)

  • Lead and contribute to RFP responses through platforms such as MERX and Bids & Tenders
  • Develop high-quality, competitive proposals aligned with client evaluation criteria
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, HR, Health & Safety, Finance) to ensure accurate and compelling submissions
  • Identify and assess contractual risks, including:
    • Termination clauses
    • Wage escalators
    • Insurance requirements
    • Service penalties and liabilities

Industry & Operational Expertise

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of:
    • Security services (guarding, mobile patrol, K9, healthcare security)
    • Public sector procurement processes (municipal, provincial, federal)
    • Operational delivery models, including staffing, scheduling, and compliance
  • Conduct client needs assessments and present realistic, operationally sound solutions
  • Avoid overpromising-ensure alignment between sales commitments and operational capabilities

Strategic Thinking & Opportunity Assessment

  • Evaluate opportunities with a risk vs. reward mindset
  • Determine bid/no-bid decisions based on strategic fit and profitability
  • Position Securiguard effectively within the market (premium service vs. price-driven competition)
  • Support long-term market positioning and growth strategy

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in business development, B2B sales, or strategic account management
  • Proven experience in security services, facilities management, or related industries (MANDATORY)
  • Strong understanding of RFP processes and public sector procurement
  • Demonstrated success in relationship-driven sales environments
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License and access to a vehicle

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with MERX, Bids & Tenders, or similar platforms
  • Established network within commercial real estate, government, healthcare, or industrial sectors
  • Knowledge of security operations, compliance, and training standards
  • Professional designations such as CPP, PSP, APP (ASIS), or CHPA (IAHSS) are strong assets
  • Experience in long-cycle, complex sales environments
