What is a gynecologist?

A gynecologist is a medical doctor who specializes in women's reproductive health. They diagnose and treat issues related to the female reproductive system, including the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and breasts. They may also perform surgical procedures when necessary and offer guidance on reproductive health and wellness.

Can an OB-GYN check lymph nodes?

OB-GYNs are trained to perform pelvic examinations, which can include assessing lymph nodes in the groin area to check for swelling or abnormalities. While they primarily focus on reproductive health, they may identify enlarged lymph nodes that could indicate infection or other conditions requiring further evaluation by a specialist.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Gynecologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Gynecologist, you need an MD or DO degree, completion of an OB/GYN residency, and board certification, alongside comprehensive knowledge of female reproductive health. Proficiency with ultrasound machines, electronic health records (EHRs), and surgical instruments is typically required. These skills and qualifications are essential to provide safe, effective care and to foster positive patient relationships in gynecological practice.

What is the highest paying job for a gynecologist?
