Job description

Clayton Services is searching for an energetic and engaging Studio Teacher to join a growing, family-focused business in the Houston Heights area. The Studio Teacher will lead interactive arts and enrichment classes for young children while creating a fun, welcoming, and memorable experience for children and their families.
This position is ideal for someone with a naturally outgoing personality who enjoys working with children and is comfortable singing, dancing, being playful, and bringing plenty of energy to every class.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Schedule: Part-time; Hours vary based on class schedule; some evening and weekend availability may be needed
Location: Houston Heights; 100% onsite
Studio Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Lead scheduled children's arts, enrichment, and activity-based classes in an engaging and enthusiastic manner.
  • Create a positive, energetic classroom environment that keeps children actively participating throughout each class.
  • Use music, movement, singing, dancing, storytelling, characters, and other creative techniques to engage children.
  • Prepare and organize class materials, activities, and projects prior to scheduled classes.
  • Set up and break down classroom spaces and ensure materials are ready for each session.
  • Manage classroom behavior while maintaining a safe, positive, and organized environment.
  • Adapt activities and communication styles based on children's ages, personalities, and engagement levels.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with parents and caregivers before and after classes.
  • Help create a welcoming experience that encourages families to return for future classes and activities.
  • Assist with studio events, pop-up activities, seasonal programs, promotions, and other special events as needed.
  • Monitor art, activity, and enrichment supplies and communicate inventory needs to studio leadership.
  • Maintain clean and organized classrooms, activity areas, and supplies.
  • Follow established studio procedures, class schedules, and safety guidelines.

Studio Teacher Skills and Abilities:

  • Naturally outgoing, enthusiastic, playful, and comfortable performing in front of groups.
  • Ability to confidently lead and maintain the attention of a room of young children.
  • Comfortable singing, dancing, using different voices or characters, and being silly to encourage participation; professional performance experience is not required.
  • High energy level with the ability to remain enthusiastic and engaged throughout an entire class.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
  • Creative and adaptable with the ability to make activities fun and engaging.
  • Patient and comfortable working with children with different personalities and levels of participation.
  • Dependable and punctual with strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to prepare materials and maintain an organized classroom environment.
  • Flexible availability based on the studio's class and event schedule.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the studio.

Studio Teacher Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with children in education, childcare, camps, recreation, performing arts, children's programs, or a similar environment is preferred.
  • Teaching or classroom experience is a plus but not required for candidates with the right personality and ability to engage children.
  • Experience in dance, music, theater, art, cheer, gymnastics, camps, children's entertainment, or other performance-oriented activities is a plus.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
