Program Summary

KBR sustains the operational well-being of U.S. armed forces at Djibouti, Africa, Camp Lemonnier Naval Base. Our services encompass program management, contingency and expeditionary, asset management and recreation support, postal operations, safety services, logistics, and more. KBR ensures the base operates smoothly, allowing deployed personnel to focus on mission execution.

Job Summary

The MWR Sports &Fitness Supervisor reports directly to the MWR Manager and is responsible for overall management of the MWR Fitness program to include recreational Sports and Aquatics.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating all aspects of the fitness program including basic fitness orientations, identifying and correct unsafe fitness techniques
  • Supervisor Sports & Fitness will be adept at scheduling dual/individual sports tournaments as well as team and meet sports
  • Responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Intramural Program within the department.
  • Responsible for the delivery of health programs and maintains monthly community, sports and Fitness schedules and maintain health bulletin boards.
  • Assist in Interfacing with local Command officials, Hosting MWR Committee Meetings, coordinating with Command and military units for promotion of Captain's Cup and Entertainment events.
  • Creates a schedule to Perform routine preventive maintenance on MWR fitness equipment, ensures safety standards are met, and oversees the organized use of fitness facilities as needed.
  • Establishes production standards, monitors compliance, and recommends operational improvements.
  • Ensures proper use of fitness equipment and provides instructions on safe lifting techniques to patrons.
  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all operations of the Aquatics facility and staff, while also managing and maintaining accurate inventories of government-issued equipment.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Supervisor Sports & Fitness will have to be readily available during regular working hours. For contingencies/emergencies, the Supervisor designated alternate will be on-site within 1 hour of notification.
  • Ensures awareness and monitors employee compliance with all applicable functional directives, safety regulations, company directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Should have a 4year degree from accredited college or university with a major study in one or more areas of appropriate field of recreation or 3+ years of experience where a candidate has satisfactorily demonstrated an understanding of goals, principles, methods and techniques of fitness, recreational sports and aquatics and understands the interests and motivations of individuals and groups equivalent where candidate may have gained by education
  • In addition, he/she must have 5 years of specialized experience as NF-4 or as a Middle Manager in a similar or equivalent capacity in civilian commercial business.
  • Should have 2+ years of experience involving the coordination of organized team sports, fitness and sports event scheduling with preferred MWR Armed Forces experience.
  • Requires Individual or Group Fitness Instructor accredited certification from (NOCA, NCCA accredited Organization; Cooper institute, ACE, IFPA, ACSM) per Navy MWR CINCINST 1710.3
  • Sports Official Certification/s (minimum one or more of the following: Volleyball/Softball/Flag Football/Basketball/Soccer)
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification per Navy MWR CINCINST 1710.3 and /or ability to obtain on site in first 60 days.
  • Valid CPR/first aid/AED Certification required upon hire
  • Customer Service training equivalent to Navy Star Service Training
  • Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining
  • Must possess current U.S. driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
  • Excellent Computer skills - MS Office Suite
  • All certifications must be current through the period of the contract.
  • Knowledge of Sports Facilities/ any Grounds Turf Field Maintenance plus Officiating experience
  • Prior experience in coordinating organized team sports, fitness programs, and sports event scheduling.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with multiple interruptions/distractions.
  • Excellent customer relations, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Morale, Welfare, and Recreation in an Armed Force Setting is preferred.
  • Process & Service improvement techniques and methodology desired
