Job description

Position Summary

The KiPS Xcel Bronze Program Head Coach is responsible for leading the development and success of the KiPS Xcel Bronze program while working closely alongside the Gym Manager to strengthen the Intermediate and Advanced recreational gymnastics programs. This role combines technical coaching expertise, athlete development, staff leadership, and program planning within a positive, family-centered environment.

The Head Coach will create high-quality training experiences that build strong fundamentals, confidence, discipline, and a love for gymnastics. This individual will serve as the primary coach for the Xcel Bronze team and a lead instructor for Intermediate and Advanced classes, helping to mentor assistant coaches, maintain curriculum standards, and support the overall growth of KiPS gymnastics programs.


Key ResponsibilitiesXcel Bronze Program Leadership
  • Serve as the primary coach and leader of the KiPS Xcel Bronze Team. 
  • Plan and implement structured practices focused on skill development, strength, flexibility, artistry, and athlete readiness.
  • Teach and reinforce proper technique, form, and safety consistent with USA Gymnastics Xcel standards.
  • Develop annual and seasonal training plans aligned with competition goals.
  • Choreograph or assist with routines for vault, bars, beam, and floor exercise.
  • Track athlete progress and create individualized development plans when needed.
  • Prepare athletes for competitions, including meet readiness, warm-ups, and performance expectations.
  • Attend team practices, competitions, showcases, and team events.
Intermediate & Advanced Program Leadership
  • Lead Intermediate and Advanced recreational classes with support from assistant coaches. Coach and lead any other recreational class, clinic or camp as needed.
  • Work alongside the Gym Manager to ensure curriculum consistency, progression standards, and high-quality instruction.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that promote skill progression, confidence, and athlete retention.
  • Evaluate athletes for advancement opportunities and provide recommendations for class placement.
  • Assist with developing and refining curriculum for Intermediate and Advanced classes.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and organized learning environment.
Coaching Staff Development
  • Serve as a role model for coaching professionalism and instructional excellence.
  • Mentor and support assistant coaches working within Intermediate, Advanced, and Team programs.
  • Assist with coach training, onboarding, and ongoing development.
  • Provide constructive feedback and help maintain consistent coaching standards across programs.
  • Collaborate with the Gym Manager and leadership team on program improvements.
Team Culture & Athlete Development
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and athlete-centered culture.
  • Promote sportsmanship, accountability, perseverance, and respect.
  • Support athletes' physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Help establish team traditions, expectations, and a strong sense of community within the program.
  • Contribute to the development of team policies, parent resources, and program handbooks.
Parent & Community Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with athletes and families.
  • Communicate athlete progress, team updates, and program expectations professionally and consistently.
  • Address parent questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Represent KiPS positively at competitions, exhibitions, community events, and gym functions.
Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, athlete evaluations, and skill tracking.
  • Assist with meet planning, registrations, rosters, and team communications.
  • Ensure all activities comply with USA Gymnastics safety standards and policies.
  • Support gym events, showcases, camps, clinics, and other special programming as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience coaching gymnastics, preferably including Xcel or competitive programs.
  • Strong understanding of gymnastics skill progressions, technique, and athlete development.
  • Experience teaching Intermediate and Advanced recreational gymnastics.
  • Ability to lead classes, mentor coaches, and build positive relationships with families.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Required or Willingness to Obtain
  • USA Gymnastics Professional Membership
  • SafeSport Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Any additional certifications required by KiPS or USA Gymnastics
