Job Description
The Field Technical Manager - Smoke, Fire, GE products will be responsible for supporting the sales team and distribution partners through technical training, product education, project consultation, and field support for Draper's smoke and fire containment systems and Gym Equipment products. This person will serve as a technical expert, working closely with architects, engineers, distributors, contractors, and end users to ensure proper specification, installation, and operation of the products.
This person will play a critical role in driving sales growth and customer satisfaction by providing technical guidance throughout the project. Responsibilities include traveling with sales personnel and partners to conduct training sessions, visiting project sites for technical support, participating in industry trade shows and events, and serving as a primary point of contact for technical inquiries related to the products.
This can be a remote position and requires frequent domestic travel.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the construction, fire/life safety, building systems, gym equipment technical support or related technical industries.
  • Experience with smoke containment systems, fire-rated products, life safety systems, or building automation is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and project coordination.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a remote environment while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with customers, consultants, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with installers during project installation phase, which may involve climbing ladders or using man lifts.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel approximately 30-50% of the time throughout North America.
  • Overnight stays are required.
Key Responsibilities
