Job description

General Responsibilities:

Responsible for supporting supplier quality and development, supplier strategic initiatives, assessing QMS systems, and proactively working on improved incoming components / material (reduced DPPM).


Specific Duties:

  • Work Cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and internal Quality Engineers to assess risk and approve suppliers for new and existing products
  • Works with suppliers to ensure compliance to requirements, assessing risk, identification of critical characteristics, approval and verification of corrective and preventative actions
  • Review and approve supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) for new part introduction and existing part revisions
  • Facilitates Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements including, determination of control plans, process instructions, inspection and testing requirements, statistical process control (SPC), and calibration & measurement system analysis, PFMEAs
  • Participate in the MRB process to identify, evaluate, and dispose of nonconforming product
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action with suppliers
  • Process Supplier Waivers
  • Conduct timely and compliant supplier audits as required
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines
  • Works with various quality systems: ISO 9001, AS 9100, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001
  • Support Company’s internal quality auditing process as required
  • Strong knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, problem solving tools, and advocates utilization throughout the organization
  • Travel to suppliers as needed (approximately 30%)

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years minimum experience functioning in a quality or supplier quality role with a strong knowledge in commodities including machining, electronics, raw materials, hardware, and special processes required
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field required
  • Familiarity with manufacturing of components (i.e. ; Machining, Castings/Forgings, Injection Molding, Metal fabrication stampings, electronics, plating) as well as raw materials including various metals and plastics
  • Experience with APQP and PPAP including the use of Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams Comprehensive understanding of Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) including Design (DFMEA) and Process (PFMEA)
  • Experience with advanced Quality Management Systems: AS9100 and IATF 16949
  • Strong background with various supplier tools/activities including corrective actions, problem solving supplier audits, supplier score cards and risk assessments
  • Strong statistical analysis and mathematical ability including Measurement Systems Analysis and Capability Studies
  • Experience with GD&T metrology, inspection/testing procedures and methodology
  • Problem solving tools such as the Shainin System (Red-X method) and 8D Analysis highly desirable
  • Maintain positive supplier relations, which will require some travel to customers and supplier (up to 30%)
  • Black Belt certification is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision
  • ASQ certification (CQE & CQA) is a plus


Compensation: $72,000.00 - $90,000.00 annual base salary based experience
