Job description

As a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner with Golden Valley Health Centers, you would make a meaningful difference in the lives of Central Valley communities! Under designated physician(s) collaboration and supervision for drugs and device furnishing, our Women's Health Nurse Practitioners provide high-quality, compassionate care focused on the unique health needs of adolescent and adult patients. You will perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and manage acute and chronic gynecologic conditions, provide preventative and reproductive health services, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and promote wellness through education, counseling, and screenings.
Location and Schedule: This position will work at our Modesto Women's Clinic in Modesto, CA within Stanislaus County. Flexibility to work five (5) eight (8) hour days, or four (4) ten (10) hour days. May be required to work scheduled evening clinic hours and, when appropriate, act independently as a solo provider of services under telephone communication with a physician supervisor.
Compensation: $147,000 - $177,000 Annual Salary; Sign On Bonus and Relocation Assistance Eligible
Benefits and Loan Repayment: GVHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC); National Health Service Corps Scholar and loan repayment eligible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistently adheres and/or exceeds GVHC's communication guidelines and expectations with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, appropriate body language, eye contact and smiling with every interaction.
  • Listens skillfully and displays a willingness and ability to acknowledge the needs, expectations and values of others through reflective listening and empathy conveyance.
  • Obtain appropriate medical histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Provide primary preventative care for adolescent and adult patients.
  • Counsel and instruct patients, families, and caregivers as appropriate.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage common gynecologic and reproductive health conditions.
  • Provide basic contraceptive care including counseling and management of contraceptive methods.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing including laboratory tests and radiological examinations.
  • Initiate pharmacologic therapies appropriate to gynecologic and obstetric health needs.
  • Perform pregnancy testing and screen for high-risk pregnancies and complications.
  • Screen, diagnose, and treat sexually transmitted infections.
  • Evaluate and treat common vaginal infections.
  • Perform urinary bladder catheterization when indicated.
  • Perform minor procedures and provide care for superficial wounds.
  • Screen for and appropriately refer patients experiencing sexual abuse or assault.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions and initiate appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records including problem lists, medication lists, and immunization records.
  • Participate regularly in quality assurance, peer review activities, and staff meetings.
  • Observe all existing Golden Valley Health Centers medical protocols, personnel policies, and Principles of Practice.
  • Satisfactorily work toward achieving productivity goals established by GVHC.

Physical Demands
  • The employee must occasionally lift up to 40 pounds and/or move up to 100 pounds (on wheels).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
  • Must have vision with or without lenses that are adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist/turn, finger and feel.

Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually average.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Ability to speak Spanish highly desirable.
  • Must be able to obtain privileges.
