Job Summary
The Gun Operator typically sprays resin, ceramic, vinyl ester and glass on to the mold that has been sprayed with gel coat and layered with stitch mat. This position leads and sets the pace for the crew of employees at their workstation.
Some of What You Will Do:
• Operate spray guns to apply resin, ceramic, vinyl ester, and fiberglass materials according to specifications.
• Lead and pace the work of employees assigned to the gun operator's workstation.
• Ensure proper material application, coverage, and quality throughout the lamination process.
• Monitor material flow, spray patterns, and equipment performance.
• Ensure that all crew members follow safety, PPE, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate workflow to meet production schedules.
• Identify and report quality issues, equipment concerns, or safety hazards.
• Perform basic cleaning and routine maintenance of spray equipment.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and quality protocols.
• Assist with training and mentoring of new employees as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table: (Qualifications):
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in fiberglass, spraying, or manufacturing environments preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Strong understanding of safety and quality expectations.
• Ability to lead their team and work effectively and respectfully in a team environment.
• Ability to stand/walk most of your shift.
• Flexibility to work overtime and possibly have schedule changed when production requires.
