What are some typical challenges faced by staff working at a gun range, and how can they be managed?

Staff at a gun range often face challenges such as ensuring strict safety compliance, effectively communicating rules to guests of varying experience levels, and maintaining equipment. Managing these challenges involves ongoing safety training, clear signage and briefings for customers, and regular inspections of firearms and protective gear. Teamwork and strong attention to detail are essential, and most ranges provide structured procedures and mentorship to support new employees in adapting to these demands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Gun Range Safety Officer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Gun Range Safety Officer, you need a solid knowledge of firearms safety, range operations, and relevant local regulations, typically supported by certifications such as NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) or equivalent. Familiarity with range management systems, safety checklists, and incident reporting tools is important. Strong communication, vigilance, and leadership skills help effectively manage shooters and maintain a safe environment. These skills ensure the safety of all participants, compliance with legal standards, and smooth operation of the gun range.

Job description

Texas Gun Experience is a premier luxury destination in the heart of DFW. We provide a world-class environment for firearm enthusiasts, tourists, and first-time shooters. We pride ourselves on offering a "5-star" hospitality experience that goes beyond the traditional shooting range.
The Role
We are looking for a high-energy, service-oriented professional to focus on the guest experience journey. While we are a firearms facility, this role is dedicated to Customer Service, Membership Growth, and Event Sales and Coordination. Your mission is to be a point of contact for our services, educational programs, and community presence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Membership Services: Serve as the expert on our membership tiers. You will handle the full lifecycle of a memberโ€”from initial sign-up and onboarding to retention and benefits management.
  • Training Coordination: You will consult with guests to identify their skill level and enroll them in the appropriate training courses, private lessons, or safety clinics.
  • Event Concierge: Act as a point of contact for group inquiries, including corporate team building, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and VIP private events. You will help coordinate the logistics to ensure every group has a seamless experience.
  • Event Sales: You will be responsible for taking the lead in promoting and selling our events to local businesses and professional groups. You'll actively connect with decision-makers, build strong relationships, and identify opportunities to create memorable events that meet each client's unique needs. You'll present tailored solutions, negotiate packages, and guide clients from initial outreach through booking and the event itself. Success in this area requires confidence, persistence, and a natural ability to communicate value to turn conversations into long-term partnerships and repeat business.
  • Community Outreach: Represent Texas Gun Experience at off-site community events, local business mixers, and expos. You will be the "boots on the ground" building brand awareness and inviting new guests to visit our facility.
  • Premium Guest Support: Provide elite-level customer service at the front desk, answering phones, responding to service emails, and resolving guest inquiries with a professional and helpful attitude.
Qualifications amp; Skills
  • People First: You must genuinely enjoy interacting with people. This is a high-visibility role that requires a friendly, professional, and welcoming demeanor.
  • Service Excellence: Previous experience in hospitality, luxury retail, or membership-based businesses (like high-end gyms or country clubs) is a major plus.
  • Organizational Skills: You will be working with calendars for trainers and schedules for eventsโ€”attention to detail is critical.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required for both internal team coordination and external community outreach.
  • No Firearm Sales Required: While you should be comfortable in a firearms environment and able to explain our safety rules, you are not responsible for the technical sale of firearms.
Why Join the Team?
  • Professional Environment: Work in a clean, state-of-the-art facility that feels more like a luxury resort than a gun range.
  • Perks: Competitive pay (base salary + commission), employee discounts, and access to the range.
  • Growth: Be part of a team that is redefining the firearms industry through education and community engagement.
Ready to lead the guest experience?
Texas Gun Experience is an equal opportunity employer. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and building a vibrant community of shooters.
