The Guest Services Assistant NE provides exceptional support by greeting patients, families, and staff, addressing inquiries with courtesy, and maintaining accurate medical records. The role ensures effective communication through timely EMR documentation and professional hand-offs while assisting with patient care tasks, such as medication transport, under RN guidance. The role upholds HIPAA compliance and supports operational efficiency to enhance patient experience and safety at UPH.

Responsibilities
Greet patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members,
addressing their needs with courtesy and directing them appropriately.
• Respond promptly and courteously to phone calls and call system
inquiries to ensure efficient guest services.
• Maintain accurate medical record order in accordance with hospital
policies and department routines.
• Assist in ordering and scheduling patient procedures and follow-up
appointments to support healthcare team operations.
• Ensure a new medical record is accessible for patient admissions to
facilitate smooth onboarding processes.
• Communicate factual and concise patient care information verbally to
RNs, healthcare teams, patients, and families professionally.
• Utilize strong written communication skills to document real-time
information in the EMR per hospital and unit policies.
• Perform hand-offs with attention to detail, prioritizing patient safety
and effective information transfer.
• Assist department leadership with additional clerical tasks, such as
managing correspondence and documentation, as directed.
• Collaborate with RNs and healthcare team members to address patient
and family inquiries effectively.
• Assist in Patient Care Technician duties under RN direction, following
department expectations and competency validation.
• Support the transport of non-controlled medications from pharmacy
delivery to storage areas and back, as needed.
• Maintain awareness of patient and personal safety in all interactions
and tasks within the healthcare environment.
• Help maintain department nourishment and supply inventories to
support patient care and operational needs.
