Position Summary

The Cook plays an essential role in supporting daily kitchen operations by preparing food items, ensuring kitchen cleanliness, and adhering to food safety standards. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills under the guidance of experienced chefs while contributing to the delivery of high-quality dishes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, slicing, and portioning, following recipes and instructions.
  • Cook and assemble menu items, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen equipment.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations before and after service.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Properly store and label ingredients to prevent spoilage and contamination.
  • Participate in regular kitchen cleaning and maintenance schedules.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Take direction from senior kitchen staff and be open to continuous learning and skill development.
  • Support other team members during busy service periods to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

  • Red Seal Certification (or working towards) is seen as a strong asset.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Previous kitchen experience is an asset but not required - training will be provided.
  • Preparing, producing and presenting food items and ensuring the highest quality at all times.
  • Passion for culinary excellence and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensuring food health sanitation and standards are maintained.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ensuring proper recycling procedures are adhered to.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety regulations (or willingness to be trained).
  • Maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Duration: This is a Full-Time position. Overtime during busy periods may be required.
