Job description

This position is responsible for assisting guests in the Courtyard Bistro and all Catering Outlets in an efficient and courteous manner. Effectively promotes the Bistro, takes orders, and prepares/delivers food and beverage orders. Adheres to all health regulations, and follows CSM/Marriott’s high standards of quality to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Greets all guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Accurately and quickly takes, enters, prepares and delivers guest orders according to standards.
• Responds to guest needs and provides the highest level of quality service.
• Assists other associates as needed to meet guest’s needs.
• Effectively operates micros operating system and cash register.
• Follows all CSM/Marriott cash handling/POS procedures to ensure accurate closing of all guest checks.
• Responsible for answering all questions about menu items, specials, and prices.
• Familiar with preparation methods and ingredients to meet guest’s dietary/allergy questions.
• Actively up-sells food and beverage items to maximize revenue.
• Monitors and replenishes stock of prepared menu items.
• Prepares all food in a timely manner, and operates the Turbo Chef according to standards.
• Brews coffee and prepares coffee/other drinks according to the specific recipes.
• Assists Bartender when necessary with serving alcoholic beverages, and follows local liquor laws.
• Dispenses appropriate levels of alcohol; prepares drinks to recipe and CSM/Marriott standards.
• Responsible for proper use of all equipment and adheres to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
• Consistently checks guests’ identification and monitors guests consumption of alcoholic beverages to ensure compliance with state and local liquor laws.
• Assists Bistro Attendant as needed.
• Responsible for disposal of garbage, picking up trays, re-stocking dishes on the line, and clearing/wiping down tables and counter.
• Transfers full dish tubs to the dish room, and assists as needed with washing dishes.
• Completes all required paperwork in an accurately and timely manner.
• Assists with inventory, completes inventory par sheets, and other responsibilities as needed.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area, and handles all food/beverage in compliance with CSM/Marriott, brand, local, state and federal regulations.
• Assists in maintaining sanitation and cleanliness of the Bistro, kitchen, and dish room.
• Follows all CSM/Marriott procedures for guest/associate incidents.
• Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
• Produces required volume of work by planning, organizing and prioritizing work duties.
• Adheres to CSM/Marriott grooming and appearance standards, and general work rules and department procedures.
• Attends all required department and hotel meetings and adheres to CSM attendance policy.
• Completes all required side work, and takes initiative to assist wherever necessary.
• Works as a team player and actively contributes to the success of the Bistro experience.
• This position also may be responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and take down of banquet areas according to function specifications.
• Also provides food and beverage service to clients in a business of social function in a friendly manner.
Competencies/Skills Required: One year prior serving/customer service and bartending experience required. Attention to detail, customer focused and the ability to perform job duties in a repetitious and fast paced environment. Must have the ability to speak, understand, and write English in order to meet guest’s needs and complete required paperwork.
Education: High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience required. TIPS or CARE beverage service training and certification, or the ability to obtain local certifications as required by law.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis throughout shift. Requires ability to complete physically demanding responsibilities such as walking, standing, carrying, and lifting continuously throughout the shift.
Competencies/Skills Preferred: Prefer two or more years of previous serving and bartending experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Rate: $16.00 per hour
