Job Summary

The Field Supervisor Highway Maintenance is responsible for supervising highway maintenance crews and coordinating daily field operations to ensure roadway maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with operational standards. The role oversees roadway maintenance projects, supports employee development, monitors safety and productivity, and assists with hands-on maintenance work when required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily highway maintenance operations.
  • Lead and support highway maintenance technicians in the field.
  • Perform and oversee roadway maintenance activities, including debris removal, sign repair, guardrail repair, and concrete repair.
  • Assign work, monitor crew performance, and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and maintenance standards.
  • Inspect completed work to maintain quality and operational efficiency.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including wheel loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and asphalt rollers, as needed.
  • Support employee training, coaching, and performance development.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, smartphones, and mobile applications to complete work assignments.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and communicate project updates.
  • Respond to changing operational needs and emergency maintenance situations.
  • Promote a safe work environment and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a field environment.
  • Experience in roadway and toll lane maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of highway maintenance or transportation construction operations.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • CDL License and MOT (Traffic Control) Certification preferred.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to use smartphones and mobile applications.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
  • Ability to work safely in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to pass required background and drug screening.
