The purpose of this job description is to provide a guide by which you and the management GTS Distribution may measure your progress and ability to meet our commitments.


The following should be considered an outline of your responsibilities and duties as an employee of GTS Distribution not a detailed description of how all tasks should be completed.


POSITION SUMMARY


The Lead Shipping Associate is responsible for overseeing day-to-day pick and ship operations, including workload balancing, required reporting, and customer quality control.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Accurately enter, edit and look up order information using GTS MAS200
  • Accurately enter, edit and look up shipping information in UPS system
  • Pick, pack and prepare orders for shipping with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Oversee day-to-day pick and pack workflow and volume, including selecting outbound shipping
  • Pick, pack and prepare large customer orders (LTL) for shipping with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Monitor pick and pack quality, identifying and resolving issues or errors prior to shipping orders
  • Lead 5S efforts related to packing and shipping
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory of shipping supplies
  • Any tasks deemed necessary by management to run the operation safely and effectively
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Keep up to date on industry trends and developments.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate and conduct meetings as requested.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years’ distribution experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma yellow-belt certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of warehouse associates to ensure that daily tasks are completed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills, including warehouse/inventory software and shipping & receiving software applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment, including obtaining appropriate licenses as required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Normal warehouse environment with moderate noise levels from warehouse equipment.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 70 lbs.
  • Constant standing, walking, bending, twisting and reaching.
