Background:
PKL Services will be providing contractor Organizational Level (O-Level) and Intermediate Level (I-level) maintenance in support to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW) squadrons at MCAS New River, NC.
Job Description:
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic is responsible for picking up, delivering, inspecting, performing scheduled inspections and repairing assigned ground support equipment using USN/USMC technical manuals.
Additional duties include:
• Perform all "O/ I" level maintenance, repairs, inspections, and servicing on assigned equipment as required.
• Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
• Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components.
• Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories.
• Perform Support Equipment Acceptance/Transfer Inspections as required by the NAMP/4790.2 series.
• Accurately maintain Support Equipment Custody and Maintenance History Records.
• Ensure mission essential GSE status is tracked daily.
• Provide status of GSE daily to Production Control / Site Manager.
• Respond to squadron requests to pick-up and deliver GSE.
• Provide necessary on-the-spot training to government and contractor personnel on the proper use of the equipment.
• Logs all equipment pick up and deliveries and ensure this information is available.
• Prepare GSE for deployments, detachments and/or exercises.
• May be tasked with additional responsibilities as a collateral duty inspector (CDI) as directed by the Site Manager.
• Stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
• Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications.
• Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
Required educational/skills background:
• The candidate must be a high school graduate.
• The candidate must have completed the appropriate T/M/S Aviation Support Equipment Class "A" school or USMC/USCG equivalent.
• Shall possess a thorough understanding or become familiar and proficient with NALCOMIS OOMA automated maintenance documentation system.
• Shall be a U.S. citizen and be able to read, write and understand the English language.
• Working knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2, naval maintenance publications.
• Must have a valid state driver's license.
• Be able to attain SE certifications once hired to support issuance of a Support Equipment license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearances as required.
Experience / Availability Requirement:
• Ground Support Equipment Mechanic shall have five (5) years USN/USMC/USCG Intermediate Level ground support equipment experience.
• Occasional TDY travel is a requirement of this position.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Primarily in a workshop environment but may traverse into high noise areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps.
• Ability to both sit and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key).
• This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
• May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
• Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions.
• Normal color perception required.
• The noise level in the primary work environment is usually moderate.
• May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
