Job Summary

The GSE Regional Training and Service Manager is a senior-level, field-based leadership role responsible for driving technician capability, standardizing GSE service performance, and leading training strategies across multiple Swissport stations. This position serves as the technical mentor, service advisor, and training lead for traveling technicians, station GSE managers, and local mechanics.
In addition to hands-on travel support, the Regional Training and Service Manager is responsible for developing and deploying technical training curriculum, overseeing service performance consistency, and building a learning culture focused on safety, reliability, and technical excellence.


The expected pay rate is $135,000/yr. Full-time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays.  

Key Responsibilities

Training & Development

  • Develop, document, and deliver GSE-specific training curricula covering diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Create technical SOPs, instructional videos, training materials, and evaluation tools for technician development.
  • Lead in-person and virtual training sessions for Swissport technicians, regional trainers, and station leaders.
  • Identify skill gaps across regions and design tailored upskilling programs to address them.
  • Certify new hires and assess existing technicians to ensure readiness and proficiency.
  • Support deployment and training of new technologies and diagnostic tools (e.g., electric GSE, Maximo upgrades, etc.).
Service & Operations Support
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic GSE issues across the region.
  • Collaborate with station GSE managers to ensure consistent application of maintenance programs and safety standards.
  • Conduct station audits to verify quality of repairs, training compliance, and GSE reliability.
  • Deploy to high-impact locations to stabilize performance, onboard technicians, and support station launches or transitions.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and incident reviews involving GSE performance failures or safety events.
Leadership & Reporting
  • Supervise and mentor traveling service technicians and regional trainers.
  • Partner with GSE Regional Managers, Line of Business Leaders, and HR to align workforce development with business needs.
  • Report on training KPIs, technician progress, GSE uptime, and curriculum completion rates.
  • Champion Swissport’s commitment to safety, people development, and professional service across all regions.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Certification in one of the following trades: Heavy Duty, Commercial Vehicle, or Automotive Mechanic (must be in good standing).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience maintaining and repairing GSE or similar equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, including air travel and short-notice deployments.
  • Strong technical training, coaching, or leadership experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo).
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and mobile diagnostics tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varied outdoor conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
Travel
  • Willing to travel when necessary for training and service needs or to assist other SP stations with GSE needs as required
