What is a gryphon?

A gryphon, also spelled griffin or griffon, is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. In mythology and heraldry, gryphons are known as guardians and symbols of strength, courage, and protection. While gryphons do not represent an actual job in the modern workforce, they frequently appear in literature, fantasy, and as mascots or symbols for organizations. In stories, they are often depicted as loyal protectors or noble beasts, sometimes serving as mounts or companions to heroes. Their unique combination of lion and eagle traits makes them enduring symbols in art and culture.
