Job description

The Kelly Group is seeking an Estimator/Project Manager for its Lafayette, Indiana, location. Candidates with 1 to 3 years of estimating/project management experience, preferably in the construction industry, are preferred. Recent graduates or candidates nearing completion of a degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or construction management are also encouraged to apply.

This position requires the ability to perform these essential duties:

  • Estimate civil, structural and mechanical projects, with a focus on concrete foundations, structural steel and heavy equipment setting
  • Supervise and direct superintendents and workforce
  • Maintain and develop relationships with both new and existing customers
  • Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to understand the constructability of projects
  • Perform contract and subcontract review and negotiation
  • Conduct pre-job meetings with superintendents to review scope of work, scheduling, manpower requirements, work sequence, special requirements and safety
  • Monitor ongoing jobs for costs, profitability and schedule adherence
  • Maintain safety awareness and reinforce safe behaviors with superintendents and workforce
  • Possess a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to company insurer

Hands-on knowledge of estimating software, scheduling software, cost distribution and common contracting procedures is also preferred.

A company vehicle, cell phone and laptop will be provided for this position. A discretionary bonus - based on various performance factors including profitability - may be awarded annually for this position.
