Verdantas is seeking a highly motivated Regional Group Leader for our Delaware and Maryland teams.

In this role, you are responsible for providing local leadership and operational coordination. In addition, the right candidate for this position will also be visible externally in the industry and have demonstrated strong client engagement and support for the strategic growth of Verdantas' MidAtlantic Division throughout Delaware and into Maryland.

This position is suited for someone who is a leader internally and externally, energized to help strengthen Verdantas' presence in Delaware and eventually Maryland, and committed to fostering internal collaboration across various services such as transportation, municipal, civil, survey, geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and related service lines.

The Group Leader will partner with the Division and Department Leaders, peer Group Leaders, and Area and National Practice Leaders to support project delivery, optimize resource utilization, and enhance client relationship development and business growth throughout Delaware and the broader Delmarva region. The successful candidate will be a visible, accountable, and collaborative leader who can represent Verdantas locally while helping advance our services. A candidate with a transportation, state/municipal government, and/or planning focus and existing name recognition in these markets is preferred.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide visible, accountable local leadership for the Delaware and Maryland teams, promoting a positive culture rooted in safety, accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and professional growth

  • Represent Verdantas externally in Delaware, Maryland, and the broader Delmarva region with municipal, county, state, institutional, and private-sector clients, with emphasis on transportation, state and municipal government, and planning markets

  • Maintain strong external visibility through client meetings, industry events, professional organizations, and community engagement that strengthen Verdantas' regional presence and name recognition

  • Identify, position for, and pursue transportation, municipal, planning, environmental, and infrastructure improvement opportunities that support strategic growth in Delaware and expansion into Maryland

  • Develop pursuit strategies, teaming approaches, and proposal positioning in partnership with Division, Department, Area, National Practice, and peer Group Leaders

  • Partner with Division and Department Leaders, peer Group Leaders, and Area and National Practice Leaders to support project delivery, resource planning, quality standards, and risk management procedures

  • Support delivery of transportation, municipal, and multidisciplinary projects that meet client expectations for schedule, budget, quality, communication, and responsiveness and deliver financial success to the business

  • Support and help advance the Delaware and broader Delmarva growth strategy aligned with Verdantas' transportation, municipal, land development, environmental, water resources, and infrastructure priorities

  • Foster internal collaboration and cross-selling across transportation, municipal, civil/site, survey, geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and construction-related services

  • Help expand municipal engineering services, roadway and traffic engineering, complete streets, multimodal planning, stormwater, permitting, and grant-funded infrastructure programs throughout Delaware and the broader Delmarva region

  • Participate in strategizing other areas of potential growth for the group and the larger MidAtlantic Division

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Planning, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Business, or a related field

  • 24+ years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, consulting, project management, operations, or public-sector infrastructure services

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Planner, Project Management Professional (PMP), or other relevant professional credential preferred

  • Delaware and/or Maryland professional registration or ability to obtain Delaware and/or Maryland registration preferred, as applicable to the candidate's discipline

  • Commitment to people-focused leadership, which should include demonstrated experience developing staff, growing teams, coordinating office operations, and managing multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong understanding of Delaware and/or Maryland public-sector markets, municipal clients, transportation agencies, and regional infrastructure needs and trends

  • Experience supporting business development, client relationship management, proposals, and project delivery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships and name recognition with DelDOT, Maryland transportation or municipal agencies, Kent County, Delaware municipalities, county agencies, public works departments, institutional clients, or regional infrastructure partners.

  • Background in transportation, state or municipal government, planning, municipal engineering, roadway and traffic engineering, complete streets, multimodal planning, land development, environmental permitting, utility coordination, or grant-funded public infrastructure programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and collaboration across offices, disciplines, service lines, and leadership groups while supporting shared growth and resource coordination.

  • Active external involvement in ACEC, ASCE, APWA, ITE, WTS, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, transportation or municipal associations, or similar professional and civic groups in Delaware, Maryland, or the Delmarva region.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to represent Verdantas professionally with employees, clients, teaming partners, public agencies, and community stakeholders.

Salary Range:

The starting salary for this position is $175,000, with final compensation determined based on years of experience, qualifications, and licensing status.
