Job description

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking a Marketing Manager to lead our group's marketing efforts. This role requires a selfmotivated marketing professional to play a strategic and handson role in a growing, entrepreneurial environment. This position is ideal for someone who takes ownership, thrives in fastpaced settings, and enjoys directly impacting business growth.  The position involves strong communication skills, content creation, storytelling, and managing the team to produce high-quality proposals and marketing materials. The Marketing Manager will collaborate with leadership, construction teams, and business development to create compelling responses to RFPs, develop project outcome stories, and author team member spotlights to promote our brand.   

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide oversight of the entire proposal and content creation processes, including scheduling, assigning resources, collaborating with subject matter experts, monitoring workflow, and approving final deliverables 

  • Collaborate with group and project leadership to manage 2-3 deadline-driven proposals simultaneously 

  • Facilitate interaction between business development, marketing resources, and operations executives to ensure timely and quality proposal preparation 

  • Balance workloads of marketing coordinators to meet group objectives 

  • Identify and resolve process issues affecting task completion, escalating as necessary 

  • Supervise the creation and production of effective proposals, presentations, and marketing materials to gain a competitive advantage 

  • Oversee third-party public relations and communications consultants 

  • Manage operating group social media accounts and coordinate with the corporate Strategic Marketing team 

  • Assume ownership of content management 

  • Facilitate meetings with marketing coordinators, business development, design phase managers, construction executives, and operations leaders to develop proposals and graphics 

  • Manage the change control process 

  • Ensure proposals use defined documentation methods, processes, and tools that meet high-quality standards 

  • Act as the principal editor on all proposals 

  • Develop and implement a structured review process for all proposal efforts 

  • Monitor project timelines to ensure proposals meet deadlines and stay within budget 

  • Create and maintain a proposal library for historical reference, including electronic and hard copies 

  • Organize and maintain past proposal templates in searchable categories for future use 

  • Guide the marketing team in developing and refining proposal strategies and content 

  • Apply targeted marketing and sales principles to customize creative solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations 

  • Participate in overall marketing strategy development and implementation 

  • Work with the business development team to create marketing content for targeted customers and projects ahead of RFP issuance 

  • Collaborate with market research and data analysis partners to track current market conditions and trends 

  • Map customer decision-making paths and develop customer personas/profiles for key segments, identifying the best tactics for each segment 

  • Lead content marketing with strategies to nurture customer leads through their buying journey, in partnership with business development and customer relationship leaders 

  • Measure program results, document learning, and drive continuous improvement 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or Journalism is strongly preferred  

  • Understanding of customer buying patterns and experience shaping customer preferences with insightful marketing approaches  

  • Minimum 7 years of proposal development, content writing, and/or marketing management experience 

  • Detailed-oriented with exceptional writing and communication skills 

  • Must be capable of delivering comprehensive proposals by drawing segmented information from construction, operations, and leadership teams and translating the information into solution- based language tailored to each client 

  • Possess excellent verbal skills and be able to interact with clients, marketing team, and senior management 

  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines and identify obstacles which would impact timeliness and quality 

  • Proficiency at scheduling project assignments and monitoring workflow to optimize results is strongly desired 

  • Team player with a positive attitude 

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign also required

The base pay range for this role is $92,300 - $138,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
