JOIN CANNON as a Senior Hydrogeologist in Ventura. Ventura lies 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, located between the foothills of the Los Padres National Forest and the scenic Pacific Ocean. SENIOR HYDROGEOLOGIST JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Hydrogeologist is responsible for managing hydrogeology projects and independently performing groundwater investigations, analyses, and technical assignments. This position applies advanced hydrogeologic knowledge to groundwater supply planning, well siting and development, aquifer testing, water quality evaluations, and related water resources projects.


The Senior Hydrogeologist manages projects from work planning through reporting and implementation support, develops and reviews technical analyses, coordinates with clients and regulatory agencies, and provides technical direction to less-experienced staff. This position also supports business development activities through client relationship development, preparation of scopes and fees, and participation in professional and community activities.


SENIOR HYDROGEOLOGIST JOB DUTIES

  • Manages hydrogeology and groundwater projects from planning through reporting and implementation, ensuring work is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Performs and oversees hydrogeologic investigations, analyses, and field programs related to groundwater supply, wells, aquifer testing, water quality, and basin management.
  • Analyzes hydrogeologic data and develop technical conclusions, recommendations, reports, figures, maps, and other project deliverables.
  • Develops and reviews conceptual groundwater models and supports groundwater modeling and water supply evaluations.
  • Coordinates with clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, drillers, laboratories, GIS professionals, and other project team members.
  • Prepares project scopes, schedules, budgets, fee estimates, and technical components of proposals.
  • Provides technical direction and reviews the work of less experienced hydrogeologists, field staff, GIS analysts, and technicians.
  • Builds and maintains client relationships and supports business development and professional networking activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, Geological Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible hydrogeology experience, including independent technical assignments.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) license required; Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG) or Engineering Geologist certification desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of groundwater supply, well construction, water quality, permitting, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with GIS, aquifer test analysis, groundwater databases, technical spreadsheets, and water supply evaluation tools; working knowledge of groundwater modeling concepts and MODFLOW-based platforms.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including developing scopes, budgets, schedules, and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, agencies, and technical teams.
