Job description

Summary:
The Maintenance position performs a variety of skills related to general maintenance tasks, repairs, preventive maintenance, and grounds work throughout the facilities and grounds. The position also works closely with preparations and tear down of hosted events. Assignments are generally limited in scope and performed within a procedural framework with limited supervision. Position requires initiative, and good judgment in the performance of all duties to ensure high standards and well-maintained facilities.
Our starting pay is determined by each candidate's relevant experience and qualifications. The minimum starting wage is $16.25 per hour, with the potential for a higher starting rate based on experience.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Responsible for all general maintenance and/or ground duties and repairs as required on property maintained by EAA.
  2. Supports departmental maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly, and monthly checklist.
  3. May assist in working with outside contractors, guests, and volunteers
  4. Responsible for clean up, to EAA standards, of vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds.
  5. Assist with event preparations and takedown of facilities for use during AirVenture and other special events.
  6. Performs loading and unloading of vehicles and equipment.
  7. May be responsible for operation of various types of hand and power tools, equipment; machinery, and vehicles of all types.
  8. Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.
  9. All other duties as assigned

May perform in one or more of areas of facilities within the following roles:
50% Building Maintenance
  • Performs general preventive maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing fixtures, cabinetry hardware, mechanical equipment, displays and various types of other equipment
  • Performs general preventative maintenance and minor repairs on various types of small equipment of floor machines, office equipment and fixtures, doors and gates
  • Performs minor carpentry work and repairs on various buildings, fencing, displays, fixtures and cabinetry
  • Prepares and performs painting tasks on various surfaces and fixtures.
  • Keeps accurate records of maintenance performed and complete work orders in detail
  • Conducts loading and unloading of supplies/materials from vehicles/trailers to transport both in and out of buildings; Includes stacking and organizing of those supplies/materials
  • Responsible for operation of various types of equipment, machinery, and vehicles; responsible for conducting routine maintenance duties on vehicles

20% Maintenance Support
  • Conducts cleaning duties including upkeep of floors, various surfaces, fixtures, displays and other operational buildings and equipment
  • Assist outside contractors with various construction projects when needed
  • Leads volunteers on various projects/tasks

20% Grounds Support
  • Performs various landscaping tasks that include but are not limited to: lawn cutting and trimming, tree and shrub removal, flower planting
  • Performs snow removal tasks including but not limited to: shoveling, snow plowing, and treatment process of slating.

10% Events
  • Assist with event preparations including set up and take down activities; these activities include both AirVenture and non-AirVenture related tasks

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 or more years of work experience in any or all of the following:
    • Building and general maintenance practices
    • Standard tools and power tools
    • Carpentry and painting
    • Mowing the lawn and planting
    • Cleaning
  • Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus
  • Basic geometry and arithmetic
  • Basic computer skills of Microsoft Office
  • Work varying schedules and weekends as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, push and pull motions. Work above ground on irregular surfaces. May have exposure to outside weather elements, noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, pesticides, and/or fertilizers.
