Job description

Landscape Maintenance - Clubhouse Grounds
San Antonio Country Club Department: Grounds Maintenance Reports To: Horticulturist Pay: $17.00 per hour
Position Overview
San Antonio Country Club is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our Grounds Maintenance team and help maintain the beautiful landscape surrounding our clubhouse and club facilities.
This is a hands-on outdoor position for someone who takes pride in keeping a property looking clean, attractive, and well maintained. The position will work closely with our Horticulturist and Grounds Maintenance team to care for turf, flowers, ornamental plants, landscape beds, walkways, and other outdoor areas throughout the Club.
The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in the quality of their work, pays attention to detail, and understands that the small things-clean walkways, properly trimmed plants, healthy flowers, and neatly maintained turf-make a big difference in the appearance of the Club.
What You'll Do
  • Mow, trim, edge, and maintain turf around the clubhouse and Club facilities.
  • Water turf, flowers, trees, shrubs, and other landscape plants.
  • Plant, weed, mulch, prune, and maintain landscape beds and ornamental plantings.
  • Assist with seasonal flower installation and ongoing flower care.
  • Help maintain ornamental beds throughout the clubhouse and golf course.
  • Keep parking areas, sidewalks, entrances, and exterior common areas clean and free of leaves, grass clippings, branches, and other debris.
  • Assist with landscape installation, renovation, and improvement projects.
  • Operate landscaping equipment, power tools, golf carts, and Club vehicles as assigned.
  • Monitor landscape areas and report irrigation, plant health, pest, or maintenance issues to the Horticulturist.
  • Work as part of a team to maintain a consistently high standard of appearance throughout the Club.
  • Perform other grounds and landscape maintenance duties as assigned by the Horticulturist, Director of Grounds Maintenance, or General Manager.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
  • Takes pride in doing quality work.
  • Is dependable and arrives ready to work.
  • Enjoys working outdoors and staying active.
  • Has a good eye for detail and appearance.
  • Can work independently while also being a strong team member.
  • Is willing to learn new landscaping and horticultural skills.
  • Treats equipment, tools, plants, and Club property with care.
  • Understands the importance of maintaining a professional appearance on a private club property.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, grounds maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience operating commercial lawn and landscape equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of plants, irrigation, pruning, fertilization, and landscape maintenance.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.

Previous landscape experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right dependable and motivated person.
Physical & Working Conditions
This is an active, outdoor position. Employees should be comfortable working for extended periods in the Texas heat, cold, sun, and changing weather conditions.
The position requires the ability to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, climb, lift, and carry materials.
  • Safely operate assigned equipment, vehicles, golf carts, and power tools.
  • Lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
  • Work safely around operating equipment and potentially high noise levels.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing protection when necessary.
