What You’ll Do 

As a Wheelchair Van Operator, you will report to the Operations Manager of Transport. Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, transports ambulatory and wheel chair bound patients, staff and supplies as needed. serves as a member of the Beacon Health System Transport Team.

Wheelchair Van Operator Job Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate timely transport of patients (ambulatory and wheelchair-bound), staff, and supplies across designated locations in accordance with established schedules
  • Maintain transport vehicles by cleaning, fueling, documenting fuel usage, and ensuring proper storage and integrity of equipment and supplies
  • Keep accurate driving and transport logs
  • Meet departmental requirements by completing required skills validations, training, safety education, and mandatory learning modules
  • Collaborate with transport team members, physicians, and healthcare staff to support high-quality patient care
  • Demonstrate professional, compassionate customer service with hospital staff, referral partners, patients, and families
  • Support department operations by maintaining personal competency and completing additional duties or projects as assigned

What You Bring 

As a Wheelchair Van Operator, you must be able to safely operate a vehicle for extended periods of time while demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to clearly convey information and build positive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts. You must be ability to read, understand, and follow instructions is required, including comprehension of basic technical and medical terminology.

Required Qualifications 

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two years of customer service related experience preferred.
  • Must have a current driver's license and a good driving record. 
  • Must be at least 21 years old with 3 years driving experience.
